Fresh themes and imaginative scoring characterize this first but mature symphony by Paray, which features an impressive passage highlighting the harp at 5:49, and a great "attacca" transition into the second movement. It's been a couple of years since I discovered Paray's music via his (even greater) Second Symphony on YT, and I'm always looking for more of it. It seems to flow from his pen freely, unencumbered by hindrances or diversions, producing emotion without pretension, refreshing the senses and relaxing the soul.

Attractive tonal music, its style belonging to the period of the great SEURAT painting (sketch) here.
