This subject has always fascinated me. Every sport has had drug scandals (especially ones with financial gain). So why has football not had more? I’m highly suspicious that the numbers and percentages just don’t add up.
@Account.for.Comment8 ай бұрын
Not an excuse, but high-level football required too many skills to be good at. So even if somebody took ped, they can only add an advantage into stamina. They are not going to turn into Thiery Henry simply by running better than him. Scholes had asthmas, terrible athleticism and still able to play almost to his 40s. There are plenty of legal way to remain competitive. Also, football governing official are not known for proactive anti-doping efforts.
@r4mediaentertainment8138 ай бұрын
@@Account.for.Comment I understand what you are saying, from a footballing perspective, ped’s won’t make any difference to a players ability. But in terms of endurance and cardio they make a huge difference, especially in the modern game. In the 90’s Many Italian teams were using the same doctors involved with cycling teams, a sport which was rife with doping cheats and many believe still is. I just don’t believe football is as squeaky clean as they say it is.
@Account.for.Comment8 ай бұрын
@@r4mediaentertainment813 I'm not saying that it is squeaky clean. The testing procedures had to be updated and the organizations seem to be very unwilling. It made less difference in the very elites of the sport but it certainly gave a boost if you are in the lower tier trying to climb up. Since most of focus nowadays is watching elite football, ped alone would not cut it, that's why it is not often heard of. Pogba, if intentionally cheat, might be desparate in his age. The situation with his brother, the death of his agent, and his constant injuries and online criticisms might get to him. He did not seem to use it before, otherwise his consistency would not be criticized as much.

@TP-pq9xxwhy be extreme when you could be reasonable and constructive? Like they said, these days someone is assigned, strictly, to whoever is to be tested. They stick beside the player until the rest is completed. Makes sense. No need for drama or handcuffs. They should also do blood storage so better future tests can be carried out.
@Google_Does_Evil_Now8 ай бұрын
@TP-pq9xx are your staff worth £100 million each? Is their individual performance worth £300 million each to your business? Is it possible to get even more performance out of them, say turning a £40 million player into a £70 million player? And would you do it, or would they? I don't think you've had many staff otherwise you'd have more understanding of people and their ways. You've got these guys telling you what actually happened at Manchester United then and how it's different now, and why they changed. Yet you can't seem to accept that it makes sense and it's practical. Remember that a £100 million player unable to play for 1-3 years would be a serious loss, which can be prevented by having one of the training staff be their shepherd until the test is complete. Continuous improvement, learning from mistakes, no one is perfect, limits of human performance and thought. And keep it simple. If it works, it works.

And Utd PLAYERS there at the time have also said how much that attitude pissed them off. Add to that context players like Pogba systematically showing up late for training etc and numerous other examples, then it feeds into his well earned bad reputation. It's very rare I agree with Souness but winning the world Cup was the worst thing that happened to him. He believed all his own hype, walked round like he owned OT, clicking his fingers expecting people to jump to his every command. No humility. No class. No effort. No commitment. His lazy, entitled habits have rubbed off on Lingard, Rashford, Martial, Mejbri and host of others too. 1 cruyff turn per game and he thought he'd done enough. This entire $hit show of a career is exactly why Sir Alex binned him as a teenager. Nobody is bigger than the club, but pogba thought otherwise! Yes he had talent and potential to be considered for the ballon dor.... but he binned all that off as soon as he got that WC medal round his neck. Now he's trying to slime his way out of being a drugs cheat!! He used his own doctor (cos an elite clubs own specialist doctor just isn't good enough for him) Got him to inject steroids to rehabilitate, and thought he'd be able to get away with it. Probably hoping he's never tested, and if he's caught he has a buffer to say "hey, I had no idea"! No, I'm sorry. But this specimen deserves every single bit of $hit he's getting right now! He brought it all on himself!! Hopefully now he knows what true humility is.... its just a shame he had to waste all that talent to find it.

Pogba is still busy with setting up his new hairstyles and all the latest tictac dance moves. He was just a special name in football, but not among the elites.

If Pogba focused more on his football "career" instead of being on Tiktok doing silly this tragedy wouldn't be happening 😊😊😊😊😊. Now he has more time to spend on Tiktok/Snapchat

Haha! Yeah forget being a drug cheat the only crime Pogba is guilty of is dancing on tiktok 🕺🏿

I genuinely think every top tier team is doping. There’s too much money in football for them not to be on PEDs. Rio definitely was on something and deliberately left the test 😂

And that’s why the test that shows results going back a year was negative yea?
