Haha, I really enjoyed that, Diane!! Love your attitude to the whole thing - "do we really care..? I feel I should..." I suspect a lot of us feel exactly the same!! I think most paints are probably made in China. Like most electronics! I have some really nice metallic watercolours that I bought from 'Shein' for about 3 Quid. Yes, made in China and yes extremely cheap BUT they are pretty - so many different colours and they look lovely on paintings of seashells, butterfly n dragonfly wings! Anyway, I'll be doing your Autumn leaves this evening, if possible. Thank you for this entertaining little snippet, Diane. See you again soon. Love, Mel in Devon xx 🍰🌻

Hi Virginia, thanks so much for your lovely comments! So glad you enjoyed that video. The notebook mention I think it’s one that I had made - I use a comb binder and put together my own sketchbooks all the time. Diane, I covet yr skill with painting leaves!! I, for the life of me, can’t consistently paint leaves that kind of look like they belong in the same family, if you get my drift. I start with one that looks okay, the next one is too skinny, then the next is oval and not got that lovely pointy tip, etc. etc. etc. 😜 Your leaves are so lovely! Am I doomed to only creating wonky looking leaves?! Ack!! PS…you have the best sense of humor! 😂

Great little mini tutorial on mixing colors to get all the natural looking greens! Yes, there should be some accountability and more information about their paints and work ethics with their employees. Plus, "watecolor" 🤣on the box. Personally, I'm loving all the lovely handmade paints created by small business people all over the world. I prefer to support them. About the largest company I would buy from is a company like M.Graham, because they're honey based (local blackberry honey) and made in the state where I live. Very witty humor today, Diane!
@DianeAntoneStudio Жыл бұрын
Yes, I agree, and I’ll be showcasing a handmade set put together specially for me by a woman in Germany in the next few days. Her paints are also made using honey. It’s the cost that makes all the difference though, isn’t it. Her set of 12 will be about $100 and although they are good value, for some people (including me!) the price makes you hesitate. Anyway, I will try to showcase a balanced variety of products! Thanks for commenting !

No waste when it comes to Chinese packaging and palettes, eh? I noticed from watching KZbin videos, that the Chinese appear to have NO art on their walls, anything decorative which sets them apart from each other, very inexpensive furniture, etc. I have concerns about the art world going forward, and am thankful I've stocked up my art supplies for the rest of my life! This paint box you demonstrated is brilliant, perfect even, takes up no space whatsoever. Nice for cards, but not large washes. Anyway, that's my beef for today, Diane. Hope you are well. I've been working on a few projects, so haven't been on YT. Take care and thanks for the video! Fanna

This is a great video, just what we need to know. When I use my hard earned money for products I want to know something about the product more than it fills my stomach, paints on my paper or lights up my studio. We have the right to know where our products come from and something about the company. Do they test on animals, use child labor, are vegan, whatever issues we care about. I think we should care where our art products are made. I have an idea a huge facility in China makes paint for multiple brands. I can see it now: Today we make paint for X brand. Tomorrow we make paint for Z brand. Next week we make paint for A, B, & C brands. Bay #1 is for X brand...it is stocked with all supplies this particular company would need for their paints-tins, cardboard sleeves, plastic this and that and mailing labels. Bay # 2 is for Z brand-same story. Too many paint companies really make me unhappy with the secrecy and of course suspicious thoughts appear. Why try to cover up information about your product if you are proud of it and want the world to know they are getting a superior product, a product worth our time and money. This is my soap box! In the USA we have several companies that produce hand made paints. I l love knowing about them even though they are out of my price range. $10 for one little pan of color-no way. Not that it isn't worth the price, just can't do that. I know of a couple of companies that manufactures their paints in the USA but they are not hand made. The tiny print on most paints is hard to read for older folks so a magnifier stays within my reach. I use a small screwdriver with a thin tip to pop out the little half pans so I don't have to worry about cutting my fingers with it.

Oh Diane, you are so funny. I love your sense of humor. Maybe AI is behind all of this!! The knife works fine in order to get the paints out, as long as you don't lose a finger in the process. By the time I figured out my colors I would forget what I was going to paint. Is it me ?

Oh my, look at all the greens! I think I need to take some time to play with mixing. I enjoy all your videos! I wish there was another platform other than you tube. Sounds like they are becoming quite the tyrants. Other you tubers have said a much or eluded to the demands.

There is, of course, the theory that we are all in a computer simulation. But adhering to the idea that we are none of us is real would encourage more bad behavior. I have ordered a number of cheaper paints lately and the palettes appear to be exactly the same. The color order is the same and everything. I have found that cheap tube paints when put into pans do not seem to last nearly as long. They are cheap, so I guess it does not matter. I have many of these paints to use for practicing and general mushing about in paint. I have enough grandchildren that there will be no problem giving some of the palettes away to eager young artists who do not know any better. The mixing palette on this set is nice, and the idea that the paint pans do not come out easily is a good thing too. I have some that the pans are always tumbling out at the wrong moment, usually when the paint is still damp.

I like to know what I'm buying as well,but I hate being tricked into thinking I'm buying British when I'm not,sorry but there it is . I do love your little palet I'm having a go at that. I think your viewers will laugh at this ( changing the suject) I'm having a nightmare time at the moment trying to paint a king Arthur themed painting for a exhibition in November, one painting must be king Arthur themed or I can't enter, I've been through everything ,dragon's, the king, the sword escalaber, nothing interests me at all, THEN, I saw a lovely painting of Gwinavier ,it's the only thing thats given me a spark of interest, so I was drawing the Queen on a Cornish Celtic throne feeling quite happy ,I thought I would finish it off down my art group and that would be the end of it. In walks one of the men artists who paints portraits, he looked over my shoulder and said ' Your great at painting Drag Queens Ann' Grrrr, Back to the drawing board . Thanks Diane good luck with your shorts ☺

I read too many books as a child and ruined my eyes. Nothing to do with screens, just doing too much of anything can be bad, but would you tell a child not to read so much? I also happened to get scarlet fever so there are some wives tales that say high and prolonged fevers can damage things too. So who knows. Reading glasses since age 16 and needed them long before that. I just got used to reading blur.
