I grew up about 1 mile from the k & t factory in West Allis. It's been mostly covered up with lousy looking metal siding for many years. In the last few years someone got wise to it being an historic building and stripped off a bunch of the siding so you can see the old factory windows and the k & t sign on the front if the building. There are some loose plans to develop it into some sort of multi vendor space, but retain the look and feel of the old factory. If i have the spare room in my shop some day i hope to have a few of these beauties to play with.

30 years ago, there was a hardware store called the Woodsmith in Janesville, CA. It was right across Main St from my shop. He had a K&T model 2 with a weird 4th axis. The entire head and neck were on a set of dovetail ways that ran down the back of the machine. IIRC it was off a Navy ship. Ibwould have bought it, but the internal power feed gear box was GRENADED. I never found any info on it, and I've never seen anything like it since.

Awesome! Please make videos of the renovation work that they will require before going into service! I'm sure it will be labors of love. Thanks for posting.

i went to a catholic high school so i never met one of them, just priest looking for love and man hating nuns. sad sad ,in spite of this i have a shop full of mills lathes band saws tool grinders, so many micrometers every where. 75 years and the compulsion to make parts is main reason to get out of bed in the morning. F**k college education, on the job training can not be beat. my teamster pension gives me leisure with dignity in my old age.

Cool. The only thing I have from them is a Tri D milling head thats hung off the back of a random Spanish knee mill. Its basically a tiny 2D head that driven off the real spindle by a flexible shaft like a foredom tool. I haven't used it yet but it seems like it'll be perfect for machining two stroke combustion chambers.

Very interesting video. I'd be interested to see a more in depth dive on each machine, maybe in the future? Cheers.

I have a K & T 2 CE which I love - a photo of yours would be great Mine has the universal swivel table. and works well taking up little floor space. What do you plan to do with it. Gary in SLC, UT

Biggest difference between C and non- C machines is the gearbox. C machines (the CK, CH, etc) had higher top speeds to keep up with newer carbide insert face mills like K&T's full back line. The x axis screw on my 2h is 1.5" in diameter. I'm sinfully jealous of that collection as a fellow K&T nerd

Great machine collection however, I was a manual machinist as well as a CNC machinist and am now retired. I would like to mention that I had an employer who tried to get me to purchase his old manual machine tools and I have to say that when I looked them over and saw all the work that they needed; I realized that he had junk. Not denigrating these tools here but, these tools were worked ALOT.
