I think Mr. Simon is one of the greatest composers of the last two centuries. I wonder if he ever immagines how many hours he's been present in the life of a guy who lives miles away from him, in another culture, of another age... and yet...How many hours shared together. I am a painter and He doesn't know how much of him has accompanied my work.... how much of him is in it... Thank you Maesto from the bottom of my heart. May the Lord keep blessing us with your talent!!! (A colombian guy writing from Sweet France)

Throughout my life, Paul Simon's music has reached down to the recesses of my soul. It has lifted me, comforted me, challenged me, and has never disappointed. Paul, your music is as much a part of my life as the house that I grew up in. I can never thank you enough.

From a fellow Queens boy who played at Flushing Meadows park, with lemon ices at the King of Corona, you still encompass the sweetness that so many have experienced. Thank you Mister Paul...

Most people are saying this is only just as good as the original, but I respectfully disagree. I think the age in Paul’s voice gives it a much more tender quality, which is PERFECT for this song. The background harmonies are much subtler this time and the instrumentation is sublime. It makes the whole thing sound like a dream, which definitely works as a love song. Because that’s how it can feel when you’re in love. It’s much more intimate and tender than the original, which really works in its favor in my opinion.

Perfection perfected... total awe! I heard and saw him sing this in Amsterdam a month ago... An endlessly wonderful feeling to have Paul Simon, musician and poet extraordinaire, as a part of my entire life. All these beautiful arrangements reinventing instruments, tones, words and sentences. The magic will never cease to amaze me.

Was he trying to improve the songs on this album? I thought he was supposed to be revisiting songs he’d felt had been overlooked.

I heard him say that he made improvements to about 5 of the songs on the album. This one sounds the same as the original to me, apart from the arrangement. So I don't think this is one of the ones he changed substantially.

This song is already going around on YT from the Beginning of Paul Simon`s "Homeward Bound #Farewell #Tour" from his very start in Vancouver May 2018. Still it is a pleisure to me to hear it coming right from the studio. Love both performances. Many thanks for posting the third song of the outcoming album of Paul Simon. Kind regards from a tiny country across the #Atlantic #Ocean #Holland where Paul Simon was forced to play a second night in Amsterdam Ziggo Dome. In no other country in Europe he did! Unforgetble concert still mising the late Vincent N`guini so much!

I think this upcoming album is going to be an interesting experience for me, though that isn't to say I won't enjoy it. It's just that, I'm already very familiar with these songs and I already consider them near to perfect--new versions of them almost seem like covers. That said, they're being covered by Simon himself, and this is obvious in listening to them. This iteration has a lush, full, richness to it without loosing the tender and intimate voice of the singer. It's really quite nice, but I still think I like the original better! We will have to see what I think in two weeks, months, or even years. . . A future classic, I am certain. Looking forward to hearing the new version of "Pigs Sheep and Wolves"

Another track dropped from the upcoming Paul Simon album which will be a rework of selected songs from his body of work. Like the previous track that was release a few weeks ago, this one takes the chamber approach which adds dramatics to the story line of the song. This rework feels like a passage of a movie as it is a song. I can relate this to The Beatles She's Leaving home as it takes this same approach. Looking forward to the new album.

It is lovely. Brilliant musicians and a fine performance. However, it is no match for the original recording released 1983, especially when it comes to the vocals. His voice was so much better back then. Nevertheless, I enjoy listening to this remake and I look forward to listening to the whole album when it's released. Thank you, Paul.

Sounded like they were sampling Steve Reich's Different Trains in the very beginning. I liked that part, but I'm afraid the rest of the song seemed a little too overproduced. The original version is so simple and beautiful. It was one of my favorite Paul Simon songs.

Mr Simon Will always be the best songwriter musician next to Dylan
@dhammabums8306 жыл бұрын
He might be standing next to him but fortunately for Paul he's been a more consistent overall songwriter and still says something. I love Dylan, he got me into lyrics, but i think over the years I've come to appreciate Paul Simon's songs as more personal, lasting treasures, Dylan was so lazy sometimes...and let's face it, he should stop releasing music now.

I'm watching Paul Simon with Michael Kay and Alex Rodriguez, hosting a Yankees game on ESPN this evening. I was struck by how old and fragile Paul seems. So I turned to KZbin and poked around, found this. It really saddens me to say--this version is not good. All of the subtle 50s doo-wop musical references that go with the lyrics are gone. Without them, I have to say that all that remains is some self-indulgent, effete poetry in search of a melody. I hate to have to say this, because the original of this song is one of my all-time favorite Paul Simon songs. All time, including the Simon & Garfunkel catalog. But it loses its meaning without the proper musical context. I am really sad, and really sorry, Paul. I hope you will be well.
