"preach both sides of the coin" - really thought this was a brilliant way to put it. It might be true that the glorious reality of the gospel shines brighter in light of the darkness of eternal suffering in hell and vice versa in one sense. Thank you Jonny for your ministry, have been really profiting from these biblical and precise insights. Greetings from Germany.

Thank you Jonny and thank you Paul! Really excellent questions and thoughtful biblical answers as always!! I, in my sharing of the gospel, have been describing hell as separation from God, because as a recipient of grace that is what seems the worst part. Do you think that is ineffective to a nonbeliever? I have been praying on this, and your video came right when I needed it!

Great video! Very biblical.The world needs to here the truth about hell and that’s it is a literal place like Paul was saying that’s why the Gospel is so beautiful.don’t let the world or the devil tell you hell isn’t a literal place bc it is he just trying to make you feel like you don’t need Jesus Christ.anyone who doesn’t know the Lord please don’t let the devil deceive you. if anyone says something other than what the Bible says it’s a lie. Our meaning when we use the word 'eternity' is neverending. The Greek word used in those instances is the word 'aeon' which can be described as 'an age' as in 'a very long timeperiod'. It does end however... I do believe in a literal hell and a real heaven, I do not believe anymore that everyone will burn there forever. Fire is in the Bible also a sign of purification. God made everything (also evil...) and every single one of us, so His Masterplan involves every single one of us. Not just 'the happy few who made it', but also all the other ones that will eventually willingly proclaim He is God. Every knee will bend for Him! God what a discovery, and what a great love He has for mankind! Hallelujah YeHoVaH!

I know Ill get some heat here but something to consider: What's the wage of sin? (Rom 6:23, Gen 2:17). Humanity is NOT eternal in essence. Life is only granted by God. We don't have a soul (nephesh), we are one. The gift of eternal life is only through faith in Christ who alone has immortality (1 Tim 6:15,16). Revelation speaks of the lake of fire before the throne of God, and then the second death... Could it instead be that man is completely dependent upon Christ for life, and we are inanimate dust without Him? In Christ.

It seems to me the TLDR version of Twiss' argument is: You should conceive hell in the literal ways that the bible describes because if you interpret it symbolically, you risk losing some of the seriousness in the degree of suffering that hell is. In other words: "Hell=burning, gnashing of teeth, darkness, suffering, etc." is much worse and should be feared more than simply "Hell=bad." Early on, he posed the question: 'Why interpret hell at anything less than face value from the way that the bible describes it?' An answer to that could be: because it's very difficult (impossible?) to fully grasp or believe the biblical representations of hell because they are in the realm of the supernatural. For "veteran believers" or those with a deep faith, it's not as much of a stumbling block- they simply take a leap of faith (to the best of their ability) to accept these representations as true. But for a new believer or skeptic or someone with little to no faith, the insistence that every part of the bible must be accepted as literal truth can be a difficult or insurmountable obstacle in the way of accepting the rest of the bible as something of value. Speaking from experience here. I can understand both sides.

As terrifying as the literal flames of Hell are, I believe that the literal physical anguish of Hell will be actually less than the physical, emotional, and spiritual separation from the One (Almighty God) who we were made to enjoy and worship for eternity. And THAT is a horrifying thought. TURN TO JESUS before it is to late! He will never turn you away. He is The Way, The Truth, and The Life.

If hell is such an important topic than why epistles don’t contain any information on hell? Why the very first sermon that Peter preached didn’t contain hell?
@keithginyard76962 жыл бұрын
I don't know when God created hell exactly, but I'm guessing right about the time the angels rebelled with lucifer. The scriptures also state that " Hell enlarges itself everyday," meaning when people die and pass on, if they hadn't accepted Jesus while still living, this will be their eternity, hence hell enlarges everyday because people are dying everyday and going there.

@N3iLB2 жыл бұрын
Why is there hell? God’s original intent and purpose for hell was for the devil and his angels, not for human beings. It’s in the Bible, Matthew 25:41, NKJV. “Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels.’” Are there wicked people burning in hell right now? No, God holds back until the day of judgment. It’s in the Bible, 2 Peter 2:9, NKJV. “then the Lord knows how to…reserve the unjust under punishment for the day of judgment.” When will the wicked be destroyed in hellfire? At the end of this age. It’s in the Bible, Matthew 13:39-40, NKJV. “The enemy who sowed them is the devil, the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are the angels. Therefore as the tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of this age.” What is the end result of sin? The wages of sin is death, not continual punishing. It’s in the Bible, Romans 6:23, NKJV. “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” The wicked have not yet been rewarded - not until Jesus comes again. It’s in the Bible, Revelation 22:12, NKJV. “And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work.” Those who do not believe in Christ perish. The opposite of everlasting life and existence is death, or ceasing to exist. It’s in the Bible, John 3:16, NKJV. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” Does God burn sinners into the ceaseless ages? The wicked do not burn forever. It’s in the Bible, Psalm 37:20, NIV. “But the wicked will perish: The Lord's enemies will be like the beauty of the fields, they will vanish-vanish like smoke.” The unchanging sinners will be burned up and nothing will remain, just ashes. It’s in the Bible, Malachi 4:1,3 NKJV. “‘For behold, the day is coming, burning like an oven, and all the proud, yes, all who do wickedly will be stubble. And the day which is coming shall burn them up,’ says the Lord of hosts, ‘That will leave them neither root nor branch...You shall trample the wicked, for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet on the day that I do this,’ says the Lord of hosts.”

Hey man your comment for me thinking a bit. Anyways what can you say about this verse Mathew 25:46 And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.” Clearly states eternal not just ceasing to exist. Jude 1:7 serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire. It’s gotta be eternal punishment. If we say oh you’ll go to hell for a moment and then burn but then just cease to exist like when you were asleep or before you were born, it takes away the importance of salvation. If that’s the case I might not even care to much and continue my sin knowing it’ll be a quick death. Not eternal punishment. If I’m not mistaken there seems to be 2 levels to hell. The grave hell which isn’t torment Then the 2nd hell you’ll be thrown to the hell we know of torment Acts 2:30 His soul was not left in Hades, nor did His flesh see corruption. If he didn’t see corruption in this hades then it wasnt the torment of hell. Anyways I’m just trying to understand.

You've butchered many a text there, not using the fundamental and most critical element of exegesis, CONTEXT. Many of those verses you cite do not refer to the issue of hell specifically.

hell exists because God is ferociously holy and just, and sin and sinners who reject God and the gospel must be punished, or else God would not be just. An unjust God would never have created hell, and there would be no punishment for sin, and we could all do whatever we wanted - go murder, prostitute, lie, cheat, steal freely with no eternal repercussions. even on earth, we go to prison for those crimes - why would there be no similar place in the afterlife?

"Is there a literal Hell?" ABSOLUTELY YES! But satan WANTS us to think that it's a "figurative" hell; so we would NOT fear hell. So satan causes many people to say, "It's not literal". IE: But Jesus said... Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him (Jesus) which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Revelation 20:10 And the devil that deceived them (all Non Born Again's) were cast into the lake of fire and brimstone (hell), where the beast and the false prophet are, and they shall be tormented day and night; for ever and ever. And immediately after Jesus casts satan in that hell; He then casts ALL Non Born Again's; from since Creation into that hell! Where they will perish. Sadly, the bible does not say "for how long". So, who ever believes IN Jesus; will NOT ever be cast into hell... John 3:15 That whosoever believes in him should not perish (in hell), but have eternal life. John 3:16 For God (who IS Jesus) gave of his self, AKA: "begotten Son", that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish (hell), but have everlasting life. Remember: that the two words (Eternal and Everlasting) are absolute. Proving "OSAS"! Regardless; of what 80% of Christians believe... ...In any case kind Sirs and Brethren, Please Pray OFTEN and Praise Jesus OFTEN; for He is the ONLY true "God Almighty"; there will ever have been. And may Jesus bless you and yours always. AMEN!

We're living in 2022 with all this knowledge and access to Hebrew (and Greek, as well as Hebrew gospels, see Delitzsch) and to great books on the Bible (see E. W. Bullinger "How To Enjoy The Bible" and/or appendix of the Companion Bible, which he commentated - you can find them for free as PDF) - and still we're believing in and sharing those awfully misunderstood things about "Hell". 3:08 - "there is literal fire in a literal place, that is what hell is" - that's so wrong. Jesus himself "did not say anything to them without using a parable" (Mt 13:34,35). The "eternal fire" is nothing which God created to literally burn people forever (what the hell..?!), this figure of speech (also check out Bullinger's great book on that topic) just meant that the punishment (which is destruction, annihilation) is to be forever (irrevocable). The people back then understood this better than anything else: once you burn something to ashes, it's gone forever. That was the picture, that Jesus used. 3:15 - "ongoing torment that never ends" - seriously this is what we believe? God creates people, they live for maybe 80 years, and then he punishes them for not loving him back...not for 80 years, not for 8000 years, not for 8 million years, but f-o-r-e-v-e-r? Folks, this is top-notch nonsense the church made up and misinterpreted, and we're dragging that on since then. Research the valley of Hinnom outside of Jerusalem, that is "hell" from the Bible. It is misunderstood horribly.
@Becomingfaithful1012 жыл бұрын
That is terrible way to think. If all hell was I’d the absence of God. If all good comes from God. How would you like living with the worst part of you forever? If all good vanished. God did not create people in spite of hell. We were created to know His glory

It’s mind boggling that people can study the whole Bible and still believe and preach that Gods nature is to make people suffer in the worst agony that’s words can’t even explain for billions and billions of years when the Bible clearly states even the devil himself will be devoured and no more !
