100 % of my assurance comes from what Christ has done, his perfect obedience, his death on the cross where he bore the sins of all mankind, his resurrection to life. My assurance does not come from my changed life, my works, not even from looking at my own faith, it solely comes from the Son's perfect atoning sacrifice in Calvary that covered the sins of the whole world and mine in particular. When I appropriate for myself the blood of Christ I can have assurance, because his blood cleanses from all sin, shed for me and not only for me but for the entire world.

Bill, you confuse security with assurance. We can have security (objective truth), of salvation because of the revealed works and promises of Christ in Scripture, but we have assurance (a personal affirmation of God's objective truth), and of that security in Christ to be true in our lives by the changes that the HS is producing in your life. There is an element of personal responsibility to have that assurance come alive through obedience. This doesn't mean that drastic change of obedience will always happen immediately since sanctification is a lifelong process. It also doesn't mean you must love Jesus perfectly, but it does mean that you desire to grow in sanctification through continual faith/ repentance, and in reading/obeying the Word. Are you striving for righteousness more and more because you love Jesus? These are the things that gives the assurance that our faith and love in Christ is genuine. Our growth and love for holiness and in Jesus assures, or reaffirms to us that the security of salvation in Christ does belong to us. Justification is by faith alone, but it is not a faith that is alone. Rightousness will follow because Jesus finishes what he starts.

Very well said and you're absolutely right! Never look to yourself, your performance nor the condition of your heart or faith. Look to Jesus and put your trust in Him and Him alone. Jesus paid it all. All to Him I owe. Sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow.

The fruit is love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and self control. (Galatians 5:22-23) It is NOT how many people you witness to. It is NOT how much you pray. It is NOT how much you read the Bible. It is NOT how many old ladies you help cross the street. It is NOT how much money you give. These things are right for us to do, but they don't prove you belong to Christ. It is the fruit that works, but works don't produce fruit. The Holy Spirit in us produces the fruit. It is wrong when people say that their works is proof of salvation. It is the fruit of the Spirit that is proof. Of course, we grow in the fruit. The fruit isn't automatically ripe! Although it is interesting to know that the Greek word for fruit means that it is "pluckable." Eventually, it should ripen enough for others to "pluck." I think that means our fruit can nourish others when needed.

I affirm this vidoe. Great vid. Our assurance was always in God. Live in God as He lives in you. This is the covenant that He had promise to the world. To redeem us from sinfulness, God had descended His spirit from heaven to be with us in the person of Jesus Christ. This is truly the honor that you must never reject for if you do, damnation will awaits you.

Saving repentance is realizing that you are a sinner deserving of God's just punishment in Hell and turn (repent) from whatever you trusted in before, if indeed you trusted in anything; to trusting in the person and finished work of Christ "alone" for salvation. Paul Washer has another gospel.

Oh please! There is no test for assurance of our salvation. You have assurance because God keeps His promises and he cannot lie. Maybe it's hard to trust God completely. Some Christians have issues with trust. But God is not a human being who changes his mind or takes back His promises. He's not petty and vengeful. Those who look to themselves and their works for salvation find that they fall extremely short of God's standards. They're setting themselves up for a lifetime of doubt.

Except a man be born again, he will not see the kingdom of God (John 3:3, when Jesus was talking with Nicodemus). Those who are truly transformed, know these words. When talking with someone who says they are a believer, or a Christian, they will inevitably speak a word, or say something that identifies them with Jesus Christ. I agree with what he said in the beginning, that it is dangerous ground when someone had a repeated prayer behind the leading of another person, and then are told now they are a Christian. That is so possible, but is there fruit testifying to that, only time will tell in the future works, or in things that give evidence in there life. 2nd Corinthians 5:17, If any man, be in Christ, he is a new creation, old things have passed away, behold all things have become new.

Why am i still fearing death, in 1 John he said perfect love cast out fear. Does it mean im not believing enough?
@carter3679
@carter3679 3 жыл бұрын
I would advise you to evaluate the fear. Is it more of a temptation that you are not succumbing to, or is it becoming a sin that affects you to a point at which you begin to doubt the gospel's promise of eternal life for you as a believer? If you feel that fear coming on at times but overcome it, assuring yourself in prayer and in the word of your salvation and eternal life, then you're on the right track. But, if youre allowing the fear to creep into your actions, causing you again and again to consciously doubt your own faith, I would advise you, again, to pray at length and to be in the word. I myself love to read various prophecies that have been fulfilled throughout the course of the BIble that affirm to me the reality of God, who controls the course of history and promises us believers life in heaven after death. Some favorites of mine when it comes to these prophecies are the bronze snake in Numbers 21, a blatant pointer forwards to Christ, as well as the famous Isaiah 53, which describes in great detail the suffering of a coming Messiah, fulfilled in the death and resurrection of Christ. Passages such as these serve to reassure me of the great majesty and power of God throughout history, whose propechy, proven time and time again to be true, is just like the rest of his word in its truth, including that which assures us of future life eternal as believers, John 3:16 coming to mind as an obvious example. Seeing this truth and providence in the Biblical narrative is so encouraging to me when I fear, and when I doubt, and serves me as a solid ground upon which I can return to trusting and confiding in God. Pray over these things and finally, I would encourage you not to question if you're "believing enough". I would encourage you rather to embrace the fact that you and I will never be or do enough for God, that in our sinful nature we will never be zealous enough, never be righteous enough, never be faithful enough. We will doubt, we will have seasons of darkness, but in these moments you must simply point to your advocate, Christ; point to the blood that he has spilt for you before the Father and confess that all of your trust is placed in him. Do not deny it, but rather confess that you are a doubter, have fear, and that you need a savior, one who will cover your sin and leave you reassured of life eternal, despite your shortcomings.

Listen to what Paul and Silas said when the Philippean jailer asked "'Sirs, what must I do to be saved?' They said, 'believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.' And they spoke the word of the Lord to him together with all who were in his house." (Acts 16:30b-32). Roman's 3:23 says "...for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus...;" Romans 5:8 says "But God demonstrates His love toward us, in that, while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 6:23 says "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." John 1:1 says "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." John 1:14 says "And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth." (The Word is Jesus.) 1Corinthians 15:3-4 says "For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures," Ephesians 2:8-9 says " For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast." Jesus is God the Son. He took our penalty for our sin (death) on Himself by dying for our sins on the cross, and He was raised from the dead on the third day. Your only part is to believe in Him. Anything more than belief in Christ says that Who He is and what He did is not sufficient to save you. But it is sufficient. "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household." (Acts 16:31b)

To be consistent at or around 4:30-5:00: "walking in darkness" would mean being ignorant of the truth [see Matthew 5:20]. You said it meant walking in sin-and, it's true: a sinful like is no basis for a confidence in your salvation that Christ died for you to have; but, just prior, you posited that the light of God is His full revelation of His plans and hope for us. It is in that knowledge (when we walk in that light) that we can truly feel confident that, one day, we will be saved. Again, I don't disagree with a word; it just seems like you made a transition in meaning that John likely did not mean to make. Good work, by the way! Walking in the light is acknowledging God's righteousness over our own. By saying walking in the light is a measure of obedience, Washer is backloading works into the gospel. Our assurance is in the object of our faith, not in whatever fruits it may produce. The P in tulip fails to provide true assurance because it looks to us rather than Him.

Is.26:3, Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee; because he trusteth in Thee. But, the wicked...will not seek after God : God is not in all his thoughts. Ps.10:4. When God is in all your thoughts, you can give thanks 'in every thing', and trust Him in every thing, including your salvation, knowing He is working in you 'both to will and to do of His good pleasure'; pleasing God in every thing, is assurance of faith, what Jesus calls 'doing the will of the Father' (Matt.7:21).

You don't have to live perfectly and perform works perfectly throughout your life to be saved. The only one who has ever done this is Christ; the point here is that your and my faith, being genuine, shines outwards into the world and is proven to the same through righteous actions of ours. As it is stated in James 2:17, "...faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself", i.e., one's faith, being truly alive, will be evident through their good works. This is not to say that every faithful person's works will be perfect, in fact quite the opposite, for as Paul says in Romans 3:23, "for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God". The key is, that despite this imperfection of sin, we faithful are not prevented from doing good works, through which we can see each others' faith, though it is of course not these works that save, but the faith itself which saves. Ephesians 2:8, "For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God".

As your faith in God grows, your doubt in Him will become lesser and lesser until it is no longer there. If you want an evidence for your salvation, the self that you have is your evidence. If you cannot call yourself as the perfect reflection of Christ, then you are not yet saved completely. There is still a chance for you to get lost in your ways. We were called by Christ to become the part of His Holy Church. All of the parts of His Holy Church are sinless without a doubt. You cannot enter in the kingdom of heaven unless you are fully cleanse by the blood and spirit of Christ. The baptism was for that purpose. We must be baptize in His name so that we may have the right to enter into the kingdom of God. We must endure until the end, your faith must overcome death itself so that you may call it as the faith of the Son of Man. The Faith of Christ Himself given to us by Him directly is our assurance of salvation. If your faith is the same as the faith of the Son of Man to the Heavenly Father, then, surely, you were saved. Jesus Christ is the standard for our salvation, always remember that. Ask yourselves always if you truly are worthy of Him. If you truly are the followers of Christ, then you will do as God says, be perfect in His eyes. "Humble yourselves for God resists the proud." Proud people equals to fraud people. Your confidence must come from God alone, not from yourself. The self that you have in God can only be found in the end. Pursue you end for that is the will of your Lord. What end does God prepares for you. Ask yourselves, "how we should die as followers of Christ", "how we should live as His devouted followers". The answers can only be found in the very words of God Himself, all that Christ have experience, you will also experience, but even so, we need to believe in Him until the end; for this is the act of true faith. If you truly love God, you will follow Him even it is unto death. Do not fear death, but fear Him, the one whom you serve. Because to fear Him is to hate the things which are not in Him and to love the things which are in Him. To hate those which are not in God is to love those which are in God. "To fear is to love." "To hate is to lust." Don't hate your enemies, love them as your enemies and not as your neighbors for that is just in the eyes of God. Always remember, God does not delight in the death of the wicked but glorified those who will die for Him. God is always just no matter what for God is justice itself... God is alive and good. Sin is evil and bad. "Trust in the potential of humanity to become good for it is the potential of God given to us by God Himself but doubt in the potential of humanity to become evil for it is the potential of the Devil installed to us by this Devil itself to oppose the goodness of God." God's goodness is greater than the madness of the Devil. Always keep that in mind. "Act as Christ did and deny the ways of the anti-Christ."

Jesus taught that obedience is still required to enter his kingdom: Matthew 5:30 He said, "And if your right hand causes you to stumble, (sin) cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell." Hypocrites and lukewarm Christians claim a belief in Jesus, but they don't follow him. Jesus said, "Go and sin no more." The majority of his followers contradict him. Some even mock at the command that he gave us to live by. Jesus did not make mistakes in the language he used, yet countless Christians feel that it is their duty to speak for him and to correct him. Many even say that he didn't mean that, or he meant to say something else. They will even use his own bible scriptures against him to try and prove him wrong. It takes a lot of arrogance to challenge his authority, and those who do will be counted among his enemies. Those who reject his word reject him. When Jesus said "Go and sin no more" it was a command, not a suggestion. False Christians contradict Jesus. They say that sinning, even daily, is a normal part of Christian life, and it is even expected of us all. They know nothing about the work of the Holy Spirit to transform us to righteousness, and if they are told, they deny it. 2 Timothy 4;3-4 warns us: "For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths." The Book Of Hebrews agrees with the teachings of Jesus that obedience is required and sin leads to Hell. "Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one's slaves whom you obey, whether of sin leading to death, or of obedience leading to righteousness?"

@3:18 Being specific about what it means to have faith in Jesus Christ is extremely important. JWs, Catholics and Mormons believe in a Jesus too. This has been an issue in the church since Paul wrote the book of Galatians. Believing the gospel is the only power to save those who believe. Without faith in the gospel you can kiss assurance, and of course, salvation goodbye. INSTRUCTIONS: How to be born again/saved. (#1) Don't accept Jesus in your heart. Don't give your life to Him. Don't accept Him as your Lord and Savior. Don't respond to alter calls, don't say the sinners prayer. (#2) There is nothing good you can offer God. You can't bribe God. The standard is perfection. You've sinned, but Christ hasn't. If you think you're good, then you can't continue to step #3. (#3) BELIEVE The Gospel: God sent His Son Jesus to us as a man, born of a virgen by God's Holy Spirit, who never sinned. He lived perfectly and loved others perfectly. He was beaten and died on a cross for our sins (evil acts). He was raised to life 3 days later and if we believe in Him, He will make us perfect in the eyes of God. His righteousness (perfection) becomes ours and we are saved from Hell by His grace through faith. We can't work for it by making ourselves good. Only believing the gospel can save you from God's wrath (anger) against sin. If this gospel is not good news to you, then you are a self-righteous person, still in your sins and stuck at step #2.

I think he just gives too much license for sin in this explanation. A person professing Christianity who is, say, stuck in a cycle of pornography and rightfully feeling condemnation, might come away thinking that as long as he feels really bad about it, confesses his sin and determines to do better, he has assurance of salvation even though it's a repetitive cycle for his entire life. How can someone have assurance of salvation if they are stuck in a cycle of such gross sin with little or no progress in holiness?

All believers have TWO NATURES- the spirit and the flesh. As Jesus explains to Nicodemus- “that which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit” (John 3:6). The moment you trust Jesus Christ as your Savior, you are “sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance” (Ephesians 1:13-14). You are “born again” (John 3:7), but it is a spiritual birth into the family of God. As Paul explains, “you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:26). This new birth is of “incorruptible seed” (1 Peter 1:23) and “cannot sin” (1John 3:9). You are, then, forever a child of God. He will “never leave you nor forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5). You will never be “cast out” (John 6:2). Furthermore, to those who have trusted Him as Savior, Jesus says “no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand” (John 9:31). This would include YOU yourself. In other words, you can't lose your salvation once you have it. Remember, it’s “by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, NOT OF WORKS, lest anyone should boast” (Ephesians 2: 8-9). Anyway, nothing imperfect can enter into heaven, which is why “flesh and blood CANNOT inherit the kingdom of God” (1 Corinthians 15:50). Here, Paul continues by explaining that “nor does corruption inherit incorruption.” Thankfully, as we remember, our new birth is of “incorruptible seed” (1 Peter 1:23). Your new birth (your spiritual nature), then, is forever perfect. You are eternally secure (going to heaven no matter what) because there are now no sins to pay for. (You can't KNOW you're going to heaven until you know you CAN’T go to hell). Why can't you go to hell once you've trusted Christ as Savior? Simple, because… Christ Paid For My Sins (ALL of them- past, present, and future). So yeah, let's choose to walk “in spirit and truth” (John 4:24), and not give the flesh the attention it seeks. So, WHEN you happen to sin (and we ALL do as long as we're on this earth), because “if we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us” (1 John 1:8)...just know you were walking in the flesh instead of the Spirit. Remember, if we pretend like “we have not sinned, we make Him a liar” (1 John 1:10). When you sin, then, that doesn't mean you're now going to hell (remember, your new birth is spiritual and CANNOT be revoked). It just means you were focusing on temporal things instead of eternal things. This is the power of your new identity in Christ: you are forever a child of God (and so going to heaven). Let's live our lives like we actually believe it. Let's have boldness and joy in proclaiming this Good News! Let's not let our “minds be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ” (2 Corinthians 11:3). After all, the one, true Gospel IS simple, and here it is: CHRIST PAID FOR MY SINS (past, present, and future). The very moment you believe/accept that he paid for YOURS, you can be SURE that you're going to heaven. Meditate on that, and it becomes easier to walk in the Spirit instead of the flesh. Take care friends.

And they that ARE Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts (not will crucify the flesh). Gal.5:24. Paul had just said, They which are doing such things (works of the flesh) shall NOT inherit the kingdom of God! Those which are saved, are saved 'from their sins' (Matt.1:21), because they 'are dead to sin' (Rom.6:2), actually 'freed from sin' (Rom.6:7,18,22), when by faith they have been 'baptized into Jesus Christ, into His death' (Rom.6:3). When a believer TRULY 'reckons himself to be dead INDEED unto sin', he is!!! Because then he is 'alive/living unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord', and is promised, that, 'Sin shall NOT have dominion over you', when you are 'under grace', because His grace IS sufficient, and is given 'to the humble' who come boldly to 'the throne of grace' every time it's needed! (Heb.4:16) Only the Spirit can give assurance of salvation, and 'if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of His' (Rom.8:9,13).

Paul, I watched your video biblical tests of true faith. I can affirm everything you said in that presentation was true and scriptural ….. but ….. while you taught the impact of faith on the Adamic man you did not teach how this faith comes to be. You do press true believer? I want to say its clear to me from scripture that many that believe and they truly do believe are all the some going into outer darkness. There has to be a distinction made between what it is to believe a thing and what it is to have faith? For by grace are you saved THROUGH FAITH …. This is so fundamental, every saved person in scripture exhibits faith. Then we hear true believer or true faith and they are just words. Ephesians 2:8 goes further saying faith is a gift from God. You described an event in your life; you did not say it was an encounter with the living God, but Romans 10:17 does. The problem we have is in the translation. Paul, I assume you know Greek can you tell me what this should say? ἄρα ἡ πίστις ἐξ ἀκοῆς, ἡ δὲ ἀκοὴ διὰ ῥήματος Χριστοῦ. Not just the words individually but the meaning they are meant to impart?

I genuinely and sincerely, from the bottom of my soul, believe Jesus Christ is the Son of the living God, God the Son himself. I therefore take his warnings about losing our individual souls very very seriously. Because the simple truth is that Jesus is EXACTLY who he says he is, namely God himself and the consequences of NOT believing in him are very serious indeed. Jesus said if we do not put our faith in him before we die, we will be separated from him forever in a place Jesus himself called Hell. Just think of the shock at the moment we die when we find out Jesus was indeed God, and the die is cast. There will be no second chances. That is why I send these messages in the hope that they help someone to find the truth. Jesus is the Son of God, believe and be saved.

The Bible is not holy by itself, it is the spirit of God that makes it Holy. The Bible is the Holy Scriptures of God based on truth. If your Bible contains errors and inconsistency. You should deny it. The Bible itself is a historical facts, not a fantasy book. The Bible is equals to history. No matter what, the Bible will remain the same as long as it carries the truth of God. Who is the the truth of God? Jesus Christ is the truth of God. The Bible depicts Jesus Christ as the Living Word of God. We must let His spirit be with us so that we may become perfect in Christ. The Lord our God demanded us to be perfect for He Himself is also perfect. God wanted you to become His image for in that purpose He created you. If God cannot see Himself in you, you were destined for eternal hell for you didn't follow His commandments. God wanted you to become His reflection, if you will not submit yourself into Him perfectly, then He doesn't need a lukewarm servant like you. It's either we will live in Him or not. That is the only two choices that we can choose from. Its now or never. Will you be perfect for Him or not. The answer is on you now. Those who will deny this, you are all an abomination to the Lord. If you want to become like me, who is unsure of his salvation, your welcome to follow me in Hell. But if you want to be in Christ, then surely, God will welcome you with an open arms. Be perfect oh children of the holy one for your Father in heaven is also perfect. Perfection in God's eyes is salvation. Let the image of Christ manifests in you. Give glory to God always for this is the way of true humility.

Paul Walker is telling you that you have to walk in the light by obeying the law? No, we walk in the light by our repentance which is our belief that we are only worthy of hell… that we are a sinners in need of Jesus Christ’s salvation. Once you've done that you're sealed with the Holy Spirt until the day of Christ. Yes it is by a simple belief/prayer! We continue walking in the light by our continual belief in the work and salvation of Jesus Christ! 100% faith in His work to save us. Not on our own ability to obey the law! THIS IS A VERY SUBTLE WAY OF SAYING: YOUR WORKS or YOUR DEEDS OF THE LAW. The only test of assurance is: Do you believe with all your heart? The book of 1 John is talking about the things we should be doing as Christians to receive a reward in heaven. Reward or no reward, we all go to heaven because of our faith in Jesus! Romans 4 4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. 5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. The Bible clearly says that there will be some ungodly people who will be justified ONLY by their faith. Paul Walker’s “test/characteristics” has nothing to do with salvation. They have to do with what reward in heaven you’ll receive… YOU’RE STILL A SAVED PERSON EVEN WITHOUT IT. Paul Walker is promoting: self-righteousness. Some truly saved people will doubt their salvation because of this sermon… I know because I was one of them. This would be a great sermon if it was about: How to receive all the 5 crowns given in heaven!!! Romans 3 26 To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. 27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. 28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law. Romans 11 6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

2:50 - balanced? This is where Ptr. Paul Washer is incorrect: ... and this is where Baptist brand of Christianity is not balanced despite what he says, being dismissive of the subjective experience on repentance and conversion puts faith in Christ on the mantle of only a mental assent, like always, on this brand of Christianity its all 'cut and dry', as Baptist are. (lifeless, all based on the "knowing") where in essence it should be on the balance of the two - knowing (mental assent) and experiencing (subjective), we should leave it to each person's knowing and experience of conversion and not being dogmatic about it.

Paul is not talking about what is objectively true. He is talking about how we can know that we genuinely believe Scripture to be true and our faith is real. He's saying that we know through the inner and outer changes in our life, aka sanctification. How else would you know that your faith is not genuine and that your sin is not deceiving you? Assurance is a personal confirmation that the promise of salvation in Christ is secure in our lives. How do you know you are saved? Because Christs says so. Ok, great. But how do you know you're faith in Christ's word is genuine? How do you demonstrate to have that assurance, or affirmation? What does the Scriptures say that Christians do if we really love Jesus? I'll let you think on that.
