Most people think they are going to heaven because they think they are good. But there is no one good but God. People usually compare themselves with other people, not a Holy God. God is Holy and we are not, that is why we need a savior, we are all sinners. Praise God, that Jesus came and took our sin upon Himself, He died for those that believe, thank You Lord!!

Amen, amen, amen, @lorettarobards257! There is NONE righteous, no, not one! ONLY the Lord Jesus Christ, God manifest in the flesh (1 Timothy 3:16 KJV) is GOOD! We can neither earn nor do we deserve eternal salvation, but our Lord Jesus paid our sin debt in full when He hung bleeding and dying on Calvary's cross, was buried and rose triumphantly from the dead on the 3rd day (1 Corinthians 15:1 - 4 KJV) Praise ye HIM!!!

I accepted God's son Jesus Christ as my Lord and salvation. I don't worry about how he will be my Lord and salvation. I put the work in for my surety that God Jesus the holy Spirit and I are on the same page. I read my Bible and pray alone and sometimes with others. Faith. This should have taken place as a child but I'm grown now. Putting in my work. God bless you all.

@user-pd7vq7wt9q John 3:8 is the key to know what? That God is sovereign in salvation?
@terminat13 ай бұрын
@user-pd7vq7wt9q John 3:8 doesn't say in so many words that we will know when we are saved. It says that those who are born of the Spirit are like the wind that blows. In other words, there is no process or procedure a person can employ to become saved. God is sovereign, and He saves those whom He wishes to save.

(6) “Other seed fell on rocky soil, and as soon as it grew up, it withered away, because it had no moisture. (7) “Other seed fell among the thorns; and the thorns grew up with it and choked it out. @peg7929 "Once saved, always saved" I would agree that "once elect always elect" but people don't usually mean it that way when teaching it. 2 Peter 2:20-22 and Hebrews 6:4-6 are not idle warnings. Jesus told parables that also warn of servants that end up in the place of "weeping and gnashing of teeth" or like the parable of the unforgiving servant that was forgiven, but ended up imprisoned in the end.
@LilacDaisy23 ай бұрын
This can be a strawman argument though, I'm thinking lately. Sure, a Judas could do a sinner's prayer or altar call. But what about those who really believe - as Judas never did, and their sanctification takes a really long time, yet they still believe as John three sixteen.

From the Lord Jesus's point of view in Heaven looking down upon mankind in Creation, He sees only two kinds of people... The objects of His wrath destined for everlasting destruction. @LilacDaisy23 ай бұрын
I thought the same until just a month ago, when I read Judas never believed and that Jesus spoke in parables to those he didn't want to be saved. In John, Jesus says if they understood what he said, and they believed they *would* be saved. It's like God can not deny himself, when we believe in Jesus. Surely all who really believe are sanctified, even if it can be difficult to see. I have doubted my Dad's salvation until now, because he no longer goes to church, has a firey temper, lies and loves to belittle people. But he really does believe in Jesus.

@@LilacDaisy2 Hebrews 6: 4 - 6 it strongly states: It is impossible for those who have been once enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the Word of God and the powers of the coming age, if they fall away, to be brought back to repentance, because to their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting Him to public disgrace. The only way to be assured of salvation is if ultimately God reconciles all to Himself. Thankfully this is what the Bible teaches and what many of the early Church Father taught and as a result turned the World upside down. Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the Sin of the World.
@nchunter89183 ай бұрын
Hello Stephen, how then do you understand Jesus harsh warnings? Like those who will come to Him saying they have done many mighty works in His name and He will say depart from me for I never knew you?
@stephengorman10253 ай бұрын
@nchunter8918 Indeed there is judgement for all. The Lord does not recognise the people we become outside of Him. However this cannot be equated to eternal conscious Torment which achieves nothing and denigrates God's character. All God's punishments are restorative (kolasis) and not retributive (timoria) so we are commanded to repent in this age if we do not the fire of God's love will purge us from all sin and wickedness in the age to come. Ultimately the Gospel is Good News for all.I suggest reading 'On the Incarnation' by Athanasius as a starting point to understand the Faith once delivered. Grace and Peace.

Loved it although a slight disagreement with the bank analogy of how to learn the fake over the real. I worked with a manager who spent years in a bank and he said that the way the tellers were trained was to have them in the money room for several weeks and thus they knew the real so well that when a counterfeit bill came into their hands they knew it instantly. Would love to hear from other bank people on the feed to check the validity of this. Having said that I highly respect RC Sproul and however this turns out - will not change that high opinion that I have of him.

@@LilacDaisy2 thanks for the reminder of this scripture. The text makes reference to “ some and they”. Jesus knows the heart of man including the heart of all these disciples following Him. Jesus made a similar statement in John 2: 23-25. The verse does say, “and who would betray Him” which makes us think this is specifically Judas. Even if it is specifically Judas, it does not tell us he did not believe. Perhaps he betrayed Jesus because he did believe, but was disappointed that Jesus was not establishing his Kingdom the way he thought.Also it is possible because he did believe, he thought Jesus would not have allowed himself to be taken but would have outsmarted them the way He had done many times before

I think that is the 4th group he's talking about, his wording seems a bit off. He writes 4. Unsaved (Know they are saved) "But believe they are saved" is written below as he's writing it. The unsaved can't really 'know' they are saved, but they can believe and think they are saved. Another words, this group is unsaved, but don't realize they are unsaved, they just think they are. These are the people who on judgement day who will not understand why they are being turned away and plead, but but didn't we DO great things in your name? Three types of conversions Gods Preachers Self According to a w pink!
@stephengorman10253 ай бұрын
The Good News as I understand it is that ultimately God reconciles all to himself (Colossians 1v15-20, Phillipians 2v9-11). This reconciliation does not occur for all in this age but will come for the goats after the chastisement of that age (aionias kolasis). We are not saved by faith but by grace and it is the grace of God that will produce this faith in us. The faith that God looks for is to know He is good and is always good and this is morst clearly seen at the Cross when Christ gave his life for the Sin of the World. We can only have assurance of salvation in this life if God's desires to save all (I Tim 2v3-6).
