This one of the best messages on prayer I have ever heard in my many years as a Christian. Paul Washer makes almost all contemporary evangelical preachers seem lukewarm. I appreciate his passion for God and His Word. What he says is true. You can be an honor graduate of Masters Seminary and still have no power in your preaching if you are not a man of prayer. In the end, Jesus is not only all we need, He is also all we have.

I LOVED his message on prayer, and recall him reading someone; "I need the Holy Spirit, as like air". God has been speaking to me, in that way also. THANK YOU soooi much for saying what you said about prayer specifically when you hear people pray in tongues and it sounds exactly like the pastor or when they pray in English. I noticed this in a charismatic church I attended once and when I brought it to the pastors attention it seemed like the pastor was offended by my observation. There's NO way that your tongue should sound like the pastors unless that's the Only time you pray. In church once a week.

A Calvinist prayer: Dear Jesus I guess I’m supposed to say some “Sinner’s prayer” thing to be “saved,” but it feels like works to me. Now that I’ve learned that I’m “Elect,” I hardly see the point of Me asking for forgiveness or confessing ANYTHING since YOUR forgiveness is a FREE gift… and even having to say “I’m sorry” for anything feels like “WORKS.” I don’t need to Do anything or even TELL people about You, because it’s a FREE GIFT. I don’t know who the “Great Commission” is for because I certainly don’t see the point…of ME telling THEM about YOU when YOU”VE already decided who gets to go to heaven (like me) and who gets fried forever. It’s not right that YOU should expect ME to change, to stop sinning or really try in ANY WAY to listen to or obey YOU. In fact….Jesus, it seems a little like WORKS to even have to thank YOU. So why don’t YOU just do YOU and I’ll do ME and I’ll see You in Heaven. Sincerely John Calvin and all of his followers. Once puffed up in the Calvinist pride of security, they have to be taught that "Calvinist Pride doesn't mean Pride"! It means humble. I'm so humbled by it it's all I can do to keep from bursting with pride. That's the end game of Satan. Calvinism paints a portrait of a God who cannot be trusted to genuinely love any one particular person, only the 'mysterious, unnamed' elect who nobody can identify for certain. Truth in Love

In corporate prayer meetings, how are they to be conducted exactly? I’m in a 1689 church but have always thought that our prayer meetings could be more biblical some how . To my shame and sin I have avoided Sunday school for years on end so that I could avoid the prayer time as well . It is exactly as pastor Paul explained in his sermon on the prayer meeting . Now in your sermon you explained what not to to and I agree with you but who should pray : elders , just the men , all at once , are all to prey silently except for a few . I’m really struggling in this brothers and could use help . I’m one who doesn’t like for my voice to be heard and truly really if I’m honest get angry inside when someone asks me to pray openly at church . I’m really flustered with my lack of participation and service to the lords people. I can’t be the only one who struggles with this and I’m open to any solid wisdom in this .
