Most great songs by great singers are best left alone, but Paul Young took this song to a higher level that even Marvin Gaye would have tipped his hat to him. Met Paul once at the nightclub I worked as a doorman, The Rum Runner, Birmingham, U.K. He came out to the reception and we had a lengthy conversion and he proved himself to be a true down-to-earth gentleman. Greatly underestimated as one of the all-time great singers.

Hi Paul, in the 80's I was a very big fan of you and your music. In between I always listened to your songs, and still love them! A favorite that has not let me go all these years is the song "Wherever I lay my hat" You have such a great voice, and also human charisma, it always blows me away :-) A dream of mine since my youth is to stand on a stage with you just once, and to sing.
