These covers of pop songs are always on another level compared to his covers of rock or metal songs. With these pops songs, it takes creativity to turn something that was probably recorded with synthesizers or electronic keyboards into something that can be played on real instruments, and real talent to make it good. With covers of rock or metal songs, it's pretty much just re-recording it in a different style. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Leo's cover of Sultans of Swing is in my top 3 favorites from him. But I'm always far more impressed by his pop covers. I'm always blown away by how he can take even the most intolerable pop song and make it a badass metal song. I absolutely cannot stand the original Dance Monkey. Whenever my wife plays it, I immediately follow it with Leo's cover, because it's freaking amazing.
