I'm still waiting on my Helium hotspot ordered from Nebra in April 2021. This company was approved by the Helium to make hotspots, but when they failed to deliver no one has held them accountable. The UK authorities don't care, Helium (Nova Labs) doesn't care, and Nebra sure doesn't care as they have claimed the hotspots are currently shipping since October 2022. Nova Labs has moved on to their mobile project and has mostly abandoned their IoT initiatives.

They have not abandoned IoT at all. Thats complete nonsense. Also sorry you ordered a Nebra, but there's really nobody to hold them accountable for the unshipped hotspots. That's one of the downsides of decentralization. To their credit though, they have taken up the mantle for some of the other failed manufacturers and have been updating other brands hotspots with new firmware. It just sucks for those who had to wait for the hotspot stuff during the chip shortage :(

Yea something similar happened to me. Nebra never came and the other ones were earning $.07 a day. Then they randomly come with this mobile thing making the other hotspots obsolete. I will never buy a hot spot with helium

Pretty sure the 5G is an outdoor service connected via wifi. The mobile hotspot connects via ethernet and is designed to be placed indoors like in business, libraries, etc. The 5G is more of a broadcast. Idk how to explain that lol

Well the credits he speaks of are paid in the Mobile token in the Helium wallet on the Solana chain. You can swap your mobile credits for HNT just like you can with IOT credits.

The Helium Mobile Network that is providing the cellular coverage is not owned by Nova Labs (the parent of Helium Mobile the company), but by a wider ecosystem. Helium Mobile the phone company needs to pay the Helium Mobile Network in Data Credits (only accepted means if payment) which themselves can only be acquired by acquiring the Helium Network Token and redeeming it for HNT. So more paying subscribers translate to more demand for HNT. This happens in the background, subscribers don't see this and don't need to worry about this, Helium Mobile takes care of that for them. The Mobile tokens, which wifi hotspot owners get rewarded with for providing coverage are redeemable for HNT.

It's not a scam. They had some distribution issues a few months ago, but they've since fixed it. Gotta be patient with brand new crypto/blockchain projects. Lots of bugs to be ironed out when very new.
