Glad to see it run again, which is a good omen for you. And the more I see it, the more I think Bud Ekins may have had one in the piles of bikes he had stashed at his place. I took a bunch of photos at one point - but not every time I visited - so I'm going to have to dig them up and see if Bud had an Excelsior. He had just about every old bike you can think of, so he may have had one of these too. Keep getting better, and keep up the good work!

Hi Paul So good to hear it and see you again. My 1949 Luscombe has a Stromberg carb and the float gets stuck as well, all I do to fix it is shake the wing tip and it stops. Carb icing is a big problem on carberated airplanes and it can happen at almost any outside air temp due to the air cooling down when it goes thru the ventury. It gets worse with high humidity. Carb heat is applied any time the engine speed is reduced to low power for landing. It has caused lots of airplane accidents and the evidence just melts away.

Pertaining to the throttle sticking: My first car was a 1968 Pontiac Grand Prix, and I did A LOT of burnouts(power brake/smoke show). Rarely while doing a burnout, the throttle would stick. Luckily I always had the presence of mine to turn off the ignition key, killing the engine. The strange thing is, I could never find anything wrong afterword. I eventually figured out what was happening. That car had a solid rod style throttle linkage, kinda like your bike has. While doing a burnout, the engine would torque to the side a bit, and put that linkage into a bind. When I turned off the key, the engine would return back to its resting position, removing the tension from the throttle linkage and allowing it to release and return to the idle position. It doesn't seem like your motorcycle engine could really move around much(at least not like a 400ci V8 with worn rubber motor mounts), but maybe something(frame/forks) flexed enough to put a bind on your linkage.
