I've been looking into doing more storyboarding myself (and have already finished my first draft!), thanks to your portfolio giving me the motivation! One question is what frame rate should I be using for the animatic portion? Most professionals I've seen seem to use 30 fps, and the animations I've done so far have been filmed at 24 fps.

and to think it was all for a fish but seriously? this is a number of fishing stories i've heard where the guy comes to have fun and somebody shows you up you know? and you feel down because it went from leisure to competition and when they go with their spoils you left with a can on the line, so you keep trying until you find the whopper no one else could be

Now THAT is what a storyboard/animatic should be! Are you in any way related to Sherm Cohen? I got his DVD storyboarding course and I loved it, and I noticed you had the same last name as him.

No relation! I've met him at CTN and his niece once accidentally called my desk when I was an intern at Disney Imagineering. Nice guy. Thanks for the compliments on my board!

Aye Yuh Aye Yuh I work at Dreamworks TV right now - so, yes it’s been good for me :)
@PaulCohen18346 жыл бұрын
Aye Yuh Aye Yuh I actually grew up in LA, but even growing up here I didn’t have many connections to the industry. Yes, this specific reel gave me a job. It helped get me a position on a show. From there I was able to build some real work experience to add to my portfolio which helped me secure more work on bigger shows in the future. Right now I’m working on Guillermo Del Toro’s show 3 Below and Wizards, but 3 years ago when I started in TV animation, I was working on Disney Jr shows which were a little less challenging.
@PaulCohen18346 жыл бұрын
Aye Yuh Aye Yuh then he must have had a damn good portfolio. It happens but not often. It’s easier to move here, start working and gaining experience to slide into the jobs you desire

the moral is: just because you want a simple life (to catch a fish) doesnt mean youre not going to get one filled with chaos and disappointment (boots and monsters,) so take it in stride.

Absolutely love the facial design and gestures, and the boarding is top notch but the constant back and fort with the tone is just not doing it for me. You're trying to make a dangerous and scary situation comedic and I don't think it is translating. It works at the very beginning and end but that's about it. Remember the ticking crocodile in peter pan, the crocodile was serious the entire time, and it is funny because of it
