Please forgive my total mispronunciation of Persephone . . . argh! Yeah, you know how it should be said . . . and so should I.

And said it about 20 cringe-inducing times - ouch lol I have a hard time doing videos. So I empathize. You have the ability to talk in one take and have an engaging speaking voice. I have a difficult time doing that. Regina has a funny ring to it even though it can be pronounced two ways. The way you pronounced it in the setup vid is the correct way according to the Interent. I prefer Regeena partially becasue it doesn't sound anatomical and I know a lady who says her name like Regeena Never met a Persaphone lol Don't feel bad. A gamers playing Dead Man's Draw called Madame Margot Mar-got instead of Mar-go. This is a helpful play thru though. It's one of those games that's been on the radar for a long time so I go back to watch videos. The art in this game i sgreat and I like the TV/movie stills. It helps I've seen the series and movie. @ 12:00 where did you get the pay $100 rule from? I read the rulebook PDF and couldn't find it.

The single player rules state: "In the solo game, a Turn consists of doing each of the 4 Actions no more than once. Whenever you take a Fly Action your turn is over and a new turn begins." I think that pretty clearly indicates that you can only do each action once a turn. If you don't want to fly that is fine but it just means that flying is always considered the last action of a turn.

You are absolutely right - I misinterpreted the rules (though they are totally clear, so I don't know why I did) that only the fly action resulted in discarding a token. Thanks for clearing this up - and I'm pretty sure throughout the play through I did discard a token whether I flew or not. Thanks for watching!

+Jamie Hall actually, I think Paul Darcy is correct here. As I understand it: in the solo game you do not spend a disgruntled token each turn UNLESS you use a fly action. I had to read the blurb several times on the sheet but it doesn't actually specify that you MUST use each action once (i.e. Fly every turn), or that a token must be discarded to signify the end of the turn. There will be some turns when you cannot use each action - you may choose not to when landed at a planet/buying supplies/dealing with contacts. There will also be turns when you cannot initiate each action each turn - i.e. if you are not on a planet with a Contact you cannot Deal Action. If you are not on a Planet with a Work Pick Up, you cannot use the Work Job Action, etc. Therefore, there will be times when you don't even Fly anywhere. For instance you may try one action to "Work a Job" and thereby "Aim to Misbehave" by initiating a misbehave card. If you fail it, technically you would have to attempt it again on your next turn, BUT, as you are the solo player, if you do not use a FLY action on that turn (because you want to STAY on that planet in order to attempt to Misbehave again), you don't discard a disgruntled token - so I would imagine you just declare (to yourself) the start of the next turn in this case, keep the Fly/Disgruntled token and try it again.

Jamie Hall So rules should have said that you have to discard the counter token at the end of your turn (flying or not). The way rules are written for solo play it problably means that flying is mandatory to end your turn.

You don't set aside a token until you fly, but you still are only allowed to do each action (fly, buy, deal, work) once per turn, yes?
@PaulDarcy10 жыл бұрын
Kreg Kennon That is correct.

Very entertaining to watch, makes me wanna play the game too. Just an idea: Why not have a 1h timer running down, which you are not allowed to watch, and giving you an alarm after 45min. Plus the 20 tokens, which you have to spend after every move action. Definitely will try figuring out "better" solo-play rules, 'couse I just love Firefly ;)

Something needs doing as I find the solo rules a bit flat as far as timing goes - played a 4 player game last week and it went much better . . . but it did take us over two hours and change!

In my solo games I stopped timing the overall turns some time ago - seemed boring after about games. Instead I put timers on jobs - two turns by default plus one for every 1000 bucks on the reward, rounded up (i.e. a job for 3 500 bould have a 6 turn timer. 2 rnds default, 3 for the 3K and one more for the 500). If that timer expires, the job fails the same way it would if I got a warrant. After 5 such fails I lose the game. It may seem easier at 1st glance, but trust me - 5 fals is not that many in this game. Plus, you can spice it up w/ half cash and resources at the start and only 500 bucks on crew budget. I know quite a few people cmplain about the solo game being repetitive and this might just inspire you to try and get back to it. Have a nice day and keep flying!

In regards to the infinite loop of trying to attempt Make Work for $200 at a planet, thereby not discarding flying tokens and basically collecting $15,000 to win the Solo game's "Bad" goal condition - that is definitely doable as far as rules as written from my understanding of the rules - but that would make for one heck of a boring game! Thankfully, this kind of infinite loop isn't a problem in multiplayer because there is no way that static strategy would beat an opponent playing the game as intended by completing jobs for hundreds more $ and travelling around the board to meet the game winning criteria.TBH, the thought of this exploit in single player never even occurred to me - I much rather wanted to use the Fly action at the end of my turn (discard the disgruntled token whenever I fly) and explore the 'Verse, do the jobs, hire crew, Misbehave, etc. Discarding the token on flying provided an interesting decision cos it punishes aimless flying and made me prioritise efficient ship movement for my jobs.

Paul Darcy Actually when I think about it, the rules said that you can only do each action once. This means once per turn. This means that in order to repeat the early action you have to end your turn before doing another work action. The logical assumption is that moving ends your turn. This limit work actions to 20 per game or 20x200=4000$.
@PaulDarcy8 жыл бұрын
Yes, you are correct. This was one of those play throughs I did with enthusiasm as soon as I got the game. I got it to the table before hammering through all the rules in detail . . . the result was quite a few rules errors I'm afraid. I plan on doing another Firefly play through in future with all the expansions and hope to make a lot fewer errors when I do. Thanks for the comments and for watching along!
