My favorite (lead) melodies to play: 1. A Good Morning Melody (Preisner/Możdżer) 2. A Goodnight Melody (ditto) 3. Für Alina [David Arden interpretation] (Arvo Pärt, the two above were inspired by and draw from it) 4. Remo Floats (Craig Safan) 5. Starless (King Crimson) 6. The Violin Song (Tony MacAlpine) 7. Prząśniczka [Piotr Kaczor interpretation] (Moniuszko) 8. Karczmareczka (Anon) 9. Oczy Szeroko Zamknięte (Łzy) 10. Małe Szczęścia (Robert Janson)

When I was playing in a rock band in high school, inevitably something would go wrong at a gig and there'd be a short break while someone was fixing something. That's when I'd pull out the mario theme and give the audience a laugh

Fun fact: The first version of "twinkle twinkle little star" is found in an Italian lute manuscript from 1517 by Vincenzo Capirola. The title is Tientalora, the Melody is more ornamented following renaissance's taste.

Fav melodies to play: Twin Peaks theme, Better Call Saul theme, Game of Thrones theme (i'm sensing a pattern). Spanish Caravan, Golden Brown. That Punjabi MCs riff. Mortal Kombat theme. Pink Panther that you mentioned. In the Hall of the Mountain King.

Gaaah! The Ode to Joy melody has an anticipation of one beat on the return to the first theme, and everyone drops it! Please, please, add that little note; it breaks the "squarishness" of the line and adds momentum.

I’m pretty sure the Berlin Philharmonic gets it right along with every other orchestra.😬
@jonasjiller30 минут бұрын
@@nickpearsonuk Of course it does! kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHbMe6qdmMaqrKs The note at exactly 46:25 in the basses, and at 50:34 in the vocal line (and every other time we hear this) is what I'm talking about; it lands before the start of the next measure, and is the magic of this melody.

Thanks for the suggestions. I’m definitely gonna have to go pick up Spanish Romance; such a beautiful piece that I never considered learning. Gonna have to keep implementing more chords into my progressions too. Feels like a constant struggle between having complex enough rhythms and properly filling out the melodies with chords. All of these sounded pretty great the way you presented them. 👍

Not true. Twelve Variations on "Ah vous dirai-je, Maman", K. 265/300e, is a piano composition by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, composed when he was around 25 years old (1781 or 1782). This piece consists of twelve variations on the French folk song "Ah! vous dirai-je, maman". The French melody first appeared in 1761.
