FYI. I was born in Kampala when the population of Uganda was "9 Million"!!!!! Today it is 40+ Millions!!!! The streets were clean, no sidewalk selling of anything. No traffic like it is today. We walked from Kampala to Entebbe! Then it was a road with not one shop or any traffic. The road was a very pleasant drive of about 30 minutes with absolutely no traffic. Greenery on either side with an occasion school on the side or a shop or two on the side. My father used to be a teacher at Nakivubo school which is located right at the tower as you depart from Kampala. There are botanical gardens in Entebbe where we went for picnics, a zoo, and the shores of lake victoria where we went swimming whenever we went for a pcnic. Then you would have seen about 80% East Indians around Kampala, a few Europeans, and Ugandans. T

You did a great job representing Uganda. Telling the good with the bad not just the negative. Thank you

This is the best videos I've seen for introducing a person to a city. Most other channels seem to show chirpy tourist talking into the camera. They're usually attractive people, but not what I'm interested in watching. This is so refreshingly real and informative. Thanks so much. Will watch your others now.

This brought nostalgic feelings about home. A very positive account...even the negative bits were brought up in a non stereotypical manner. You must be a very positive person. Thank you for this video.

Wow, some of these places don't look like that now(dated video :-)). The highway from the bridge to the airport is much wider, for one. Transport around kla is not hard, you just need to brave it to the taxi park. Ask any shop keeper, when stuck. However its a downhill slope from Kla road. It really depends where you are going too.

About the credit cards, that is not entirely very true I always use my MasterCard whenever I travel to Uganda and the good thing is that there is no extra charge for withdrawal like they do when you use visa cards
@pddembowski5 жыл бұрын
it depends what type of Mastercard. some are good for travel and some are not. In most cases the exchange rate is terrible when they convert your purchase to Canadian or US dollars or Euros. some also add a ridiculous 2.5 percent "foreign exchange fee".

HI PAUL HOW ARE YOU? I'M WATCHING YOUR VIDEO WHEN YOU WERE GOING TO ENTEBBE AIRPORT AND YOU MENTIONED THAT THE AIRPORT HAS A LOW EXCHABGE RATE SOOO WHY CAN'T YOU EXCHANGE ALL OF YOUR MONEY INTO UGANDAN SHILLINGS? I WANT TO PLAN A TRIP TO KAMPALA UGANDA AND I WANT TO KNOW IF KAMPALA UGANDA IS SAFE FOR A SINGLE WOMAN TO WALK THE STREETS OF KAMPALA BECAUSE I WAS READING ON THE UGANDAN WEBSITE THAT UGANDA WAS UNDER SUICIDE BOMBINGS AND YOU WRER THERE IN 2017 AND I REALLY REALLY WOULD APPRECIATE IT PAUL IF YOU COULD GET BACK TO ME ON MY CONCERNS ABOUT GOING TO KAMPALA UUGANDA THANK YOU LAURA
@pddembowski2 жыл бұрын
Hi, there are many, exchange places all over Kampala. Maybe you can try a bank at one of the malls such as Acacia Mall. They usually have the exchange rate on a sign in front. Regarding safety don't wear any jewelry, watch, etc.. take only money, keys when you are out.. A cheap phone if you need to use UBER there. During the day I don't think you will get bothered by anyone, nighttime may be a bit more sketchy.
