I got to see Hwy 101 and hear this lady sing at a county fair years ago. I had no clue any band much less these guys were playing that night and as much as I loved seeing them, there were maybe between 50 and 100 people watching. The ones that were , like myself enjoyed it as much as 50, 000. They had no business playing at a Fair in can't get here from there county population maybe 9 grand , fairgrounds on one side of the highway, prison the other , can't miss it. Thankfully I went that year. Everyone had near stage standing room just like at the Wilm. Chili cook-off back in the day , not expecting more than heartburn and then I hear Jimmy Fadden and Jeff Hannah of Nitty Gritty crank up. Gotta be kidding . Thank you Lord. Should been at both as well as Bill Lowerly and Tumbleweed , along with Super Grit at either or both Hood Swamp Jamboree Black R and Heartwood playing final time Whiteville way back in 77 .

George Jones once said in a song, (The world is full of singers, but only a few are chosen, to tear you're heart out when they sing)..How true that is, and there are a few out there that do this, and Paulette Carlson's voice is one of those that cuts right through to the heart... In my book she is a super star...Where ever she is (somewhere tonight), I hope she is living life to the fullest.... Voices like that only come around once in a while...

Aw Paulette.....one of the great female country singers of all time. Their one album had "Somewhere Tonight","The Bed You Made for Me",Cry,Cry,Cry","Whiskey,If you Were a Woman" 4 top notch songs with terrific guitar tips and these songs you just cant crank up enough. Yet Highway 101 and Bailey and the Boys were the best IMO.Couldnt wait for their new albums to come out yet neither made it big or got the recognition they deserved. I dont know,maybe they weren't managed well? Not only was Paulette awesome,the guitars superb,and steel guitar going thru you but the recordings were clean. Miss both 101 and Kathy Bailey

Even though Papua New Guinea and the US differ so much in terms of culture, geographical settings and even taste for music, country music for someone like myself, whose own culture is deeply infused in a diverse range of traditional music of all sorts, owing to the multi tribal society that has over 800 languages, really does suit my taste, given the sweet harmonies that blends so well with it.
