Autumn Sunrise - making an oil painting from a landscape reference photo

For today's Foxton Friday paintalong (Friday 1sty November, 2024) I'll be painting a colour study from a reference photo of a sunrise in a field near our old farmhouse.
Along the way, I'' be making some changes to the colours - I'll explain why and demonstrate them in the session.
I'll take out a LOT of the detail and information in the photo - I'll show you where.
I'll add random texture and softness, and hopefully mood and atmosphere along with that.

It's amazing that your camera was able to capture the range of light without washing out.

C'etait super j'ai adoré cette séance, et ce paysage est magnifique, il me fait penser un peu aux paysages d'odilon REDON, profonds, très habités. Je vais tenter de le refaire, en espérant m'en approcher le plus possible. Depuis que j'ai découvert ton travail, je ne regarde que tes vidéos ! je me rends compte à quel point je dois m'appliquer beaucoup plus, et prendre mon temps. Salut Paul, à bientôt sur you tube
