Dehradun - Mohund in 1990

This clip starts at the Yak Service Station in Dehradun, which was adjacent to the Yeti Restaurant. Then there are scenes of Dehradun traffic on Rajpur Road in town and on Saharanpur Road as it heads out of town. We were welcomed into a Gujjar home in the Shivaliks and shot some video there. The clip finishes with some footage taken in the village of Mohund, where the Gujjar presence was quite evident. We always found Gujjar people to be very hospitable. We especially enjoyed Gujjar hospitality on an earlier hike to Dodi Tal.

I remember this very well, so nice and peaceful, so much greenery less traffic. Beautiful. From Mohand onwards you could smell the nature and beauty of Dehradun. Sadly Its all gone now. Dehradun has lost all its charm after becoming the capital of Uttarakhand.

Sir, first of all I will be ever indebted to you for preserving the doon that I grew up in (I was in SJA in class X in 1989), and which is still engraved in my memory and which it will be for ever. Alas! the Dehra Dun of yesteryears has been ravished by the wheels of modernization but thanks to your effort, people like me can look at your captured snippets and live the glorious past of our city whenever we want... A VERY BIG THANKYOU TO YOU!!!
