I had to change the throttle cable when I fitted a Mk1 Amal concentric. Bike already had an Amal, but monobloc. It needed a cable with a slightly longer inner cable.

Paul, you always provide valuable common sense solutions when working on these classic bikes. Thanks for the tip to deal with this throttle issue and for pointing out the possible issue when changing carbs on these bikes. Will there be another road test for this one.? Hi Dan and thanks - I have just fitted a 21T gearbox sprocket and am awaiting new tyres to arrive. Once I have fitted them and changed the oil, there will be another ride.

Twin carbs need a twin twist grip best thing you can do

Could you also have the senario where a carb set has been changed and there simply isnt enough travel in the throttle twistgrip to accommodate the extra cable pull needed for the new carbs?

Yes - in fact I discuss and demonstrate that with an Indian RE Bullet in one of my videos, where a big carb had been fitted and it was only achieving about three quarters throttle for that very reason.
