Great progress! Is the crank pin only a press fit? Couldn’t see any nuts either side.

Yes, just a press fit.

Hi Paul, on the gear change shaft, is there a seal behind the triangular plate that the shaft is through? I’ve got a 1961 B40 and the casings etc are pretty much the same. I’ve been looking for a way to hold a seal in place on the gear change shaft and that triangular plate looks like a possible mod route that negates the need for machining. My plate is rectangular and only covers the opening in the gearbox for the selector.

Hi John, yes, it holds an o ring.

That’s interesting, thanks. Is the triangular plate an aftermarket item? At the moment I’ve got a Dowty seal (which has a lip seal round the shaft as well as the flat faces of the washer) and I have it held in place against the boss with a long light spring over the shaft which is compressed by the outer casing once fitted.
