Hi Paul, I've been using a Tabac shaving stick with the Wilkinson Sword Classic razor along with a Blades Grim synthetic brush in the shower for the back of my neck about every 2 weeks for the last few years. I see my old post below from 7 years ago. That's amazing. Where does the time go. lol Thanks for the ideas. Lovely shave. Thanks.

+jcarrickzilla I agree. I've tried over 20 SE and DE shavers and IMHO The Edwin Jagger DE89 is the best DE razor on the market. The Clones do not do as well as the real thing. Best Regards, David

Thanks for another great video Paul. I've been using Classicshaving's vanilla 3"pucks for 10 years with Clubman Pinaud vanilla after shave and I still like those but I was looking for something different but just as classic smelling without anything to costly or womanly smelling. I think I'm going to try some Tabac. Seems incredibly popular amongst the KZbin shaving community. Thanks again.

Paul I like the design of the Edwin Jagger looks sold & well built, when you said it was built from the same type of metal as a Rolls Royse that really confirmed it for me. I've reviewed Edwin Jagger razors online & I really like what they have to offer.

Great video as always, Paul. Funny, I mostly use soaps (with tallow in them- tabac has tallow) and find them to be slicker than creams. I do a couple of things different, though... I usually bloom the soap for a couple of minutes while I do my prep, and load the brush a lot more vigorously. I mix in a tiny bit of water occasionally (dip the brush in the cup I had it soaking in) as I face lather, and give a quick rinse with warm water to my face between passes... not to get off the soap but just to re-wet. Of course, YMMV. My wife just read this post over my shoulder and is laughing at me!!! No one understands...LOL (P.S.- tabac IS a great classic, and I have to try those personna reds... love the blues- but people rave about those reds...)
@PaulHFilms9 жыл бұрын
+TheChaz5504 Yes, water can make a big difference, you do a good prep by the sounds of it...my other half doesn't really understand either...lol...finds it all amusing. I think you would enjoy the reds, if you like the blues....all the best and thanks....Paul.

Great video Paul. A tip I sometimes use if I have time is to steam my face prior to a shave. Piping hot water in a bowl and a towel over the bowl. Stick your face under the towel and let the steam do the work. Massage a little hair conditioner into the beard and steam a bit more. Can be a bit time consuming but well worth it in my opinion. See you Sunday.

Good video Paul, the Edwin Jagger is a perfect razor. Re: Sickness - I feel you'll never really get much slickness as you favour a dryer/pasty lather, slickness is water, so a decent amount has to be added to the mix, a damp brush won't be enough.
@PaulHFilms9 жыл бұрын
+DeeDeeDanone Excellent razor isn't it, I get more slickness in creams really, I like the lather "pasty"..as you know....glycerin would sort it.....quite happy though...thanks.....Paul.

Paulie! Old video, but I am bored... I have about a dozen or so brushes (all kinds). most all my brushes are Semogue.. I find that the 820 is there BEST (for me). Just so soft and floppy but still enough back bone for a triple milled soap like the Tabac. I tell you the 820 gets softer and more luxirous the more you use it, Paul can you bust out the 820 on a new shave video! Gotta show some love to the Portuguese BRUSH masters!!! another excellent video Paul and remember " A 40 Year OLD PUCK OF SOAP!" :-)

Paul,I'm not sure the availability of variety of soaps over there, but I think you'd be surprised by the slickness of some of the American artisan soaps like Soap Commander, Barrister & Mann, Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements, etc. compared to creams. They're at least on par or can be more slick than creams I've used such as Proraso and TOBS. Unfortunately, I've not yet had a chance to try Tabac so I can't say one way or the other about the slickness of that soap, in particular. Great videos, as always. Happy shaving :)

Paul talking about DE Razor blades ... the best and longest lasting blades ever made were Personna 74 made with Tungsten steel which could give you around 50 shaves on 1 blade and there is a guy on KZbin that got over 100 shaves on a Personna 74 , personna stopped using Tungsten as they were making a loss as those blades lasted for ages and can still be bought on ebay , i got exactly 15 shaves from a single ASCO orange blade as the ASCO is made in Egypt by Lord and are amazing and also last ages and they are cheap on ebay , i was amazed at the number of shaves as my Wilkinson sword lasted me around 3 shaves , the Supermax Stainless blades i have are in bad condition as bad Qaulity control , have you ever used treet blades from Pakistan , i am realy loving my Parker 65R which is a heavy weight and only cost me £17.99 inc P&P but many nickname it a Wisker cutter and i can see why .. honest far better than my EJ DE89. John Hallock = Mad Scientist of Wet Shaving rates the Parker 65R very high , i say its Amazing , keep up the great vids and that Tabac soap is a excelent German Soap. Jock Stewart From Glasgow.

@shave-a-thon34159 жыл бұрын
Paul - I've read members rave about Tabac soap on the shaving forums. I noticed that once you load the brush, you apply it directly to the face. I've seen other videos where once the brush is loaded, a few drops of water is added to a separate bowl or mug, and then it's worked into a lather from there, with a drop or two of glycerin added if necessary. Is it just a matter of personal preference? In regard to those Personnas, the Personna blade issue is incredibly confusing. I'm looking forward to a video where you compare them to the Personna Medical Prep blade. Just a note regarding aftershaves. Pak Cosemetics has a bunch of stores in the UK and they sell a great variety of GLASS bottles of Brut aftershave, cologne and EDT that we can't get here in the USA, at a reasonable price of about £3.00. Take a look at the four pages of products here: www.pakcosmetics.com/search/brut I would like to compare them to the US versions, but the one I think you really should try and the one that's highly recommended by Joe from Queens (Briarwood 138) is Brut Dominant. He mentioned it in one of his videos and it's become one of my favorites. It's very different than anything Brut has ever released and smells like a much more expensive brand. Unfortunately, it can only be had for a reasonable price online at a few sites in the USA. www.walgreens.com/store/c/brut-dominant-cologne/ID=prod6207000-product www.drugstore.com/brut-dominant-cologne/qxp491658?catid=88142 Very favorable thread about Brut Dominant here: www.basenotes.net/threads/325663-New-Brut-Dominant Looking forward to the Sunday shave. I'm sure you and your team of writers are preparing the production at this moment.
