Hey Paul, it's so cool you finally got your GOLD Futur. Well deserved and well earned as they say. After two years of DE shaving I also finally got my first Futur and ironically also got 20 Treet Platinum blades since I know I like them from two years ago. Anyways, yes I was the cute one at Big Shave West 3 in my Stirling Soap t-shirt like last year chatting with Stan from Above The Tie. I have the same beard growth pattern as you, but different beard growth type. I have been using the Futur since '96 and there are some blades that just won't cut it even in the Futur. I just started using the Treet Platinum blades this year (2023). It is a great blade for one with thick wiry beard growth.

I concur with your assessment of the Treet Platinum, Paul. I also would have never presumed a smooth and efficient performance from it. My last experience with a Treet was a tuggy affair, with the usual disappointment. I intend to revisit the Platinum blade. Happy Sunday Paul!! I am glad to see you so excitedly happy about using these products. I am keen on finding blades that are comfortable. When I started my return to DE shaving, I bought about 5 brands of blades. I think I found Astra SP and Crystal to work well in my humble collection of DE razors. Now the quest is to find one that works well in most of my razors and can give my at least 3 close, comfortable shaves. Vintage Wilkinson and Schick blades are the winners thus far...but I will have to give those Treets a test. I am looking at the rather large blade gap on the Futur...wow. Sunday dinner sounds delicious...Roast Lamb. I just need a twice baked potato and mint sauce...yummy. Enjoy your cider, cheers.

I have the gold Futur. I was initially not sure if I would like it, but it's become one of my go-to razors. The Trumper's Spanish Leather is a really nice cream. I found that it was a "grower" where the smell gradually asserted itself more and more. It never gets to the point of being super-strong, but it does have a nice scent. Posh, as you called it. Great video Mr H. I love those Treet platinums. I find them very smooth with just the right amount of sharpness. If I compared it to another blade I would say it's as smooth as a Derby but a bit sharper. I picked up 200 of them on eBay for £12 delivered. Can't beat that. See you Mid week Paul.

oh thanks for the info concerning the brush semogue, is that the one with jabali bristles ( boar ) , I normaly make my brushes from boar softer after using them for many times in warm water and with shaving soap , so after a 10 times making lather and after a few days the bristles are softer , do you also use omega brushes ?

Used the EJ 89 I bought from the meet up and love it. Not used the treets I got but will soon. I didn't love that scent as much as everyone else did. I do totally agree a scent is better judged when using it. Arko is nicer when in use also find body shop Macca root the same. Nice video with a new idea.

dear paul, I have a qshave razon and ordered a ming shi 2000 s who is going to arrive in june, the qshave is great , I use normaly between settings 2 and 3, normaly I am not using every day the same razors, I also use cheap ones ( wikinson sword, etc etc ), I also ordered a ming shi 3000 s, also going to arrive around june, both are adjustables, 3000 s is a butterfly opening, I don't use merkur since these razors are not cheap and since I am very poor ( live in mexico ) cannot efford these things haha , my collection of soaps is growing , nevertheless buying a lot of imported ones , is making the cost more expensive since shipping cost is very high, In europa you have so many special shaving product shops , but that is no reason for going back to my country belgium , here we have sun , there it is always cold , greetings robert

Bought the Ming Shi 2000s, a near identical chinese knock-off of th Futur. $6:99 incl. shipping from China. Just discovered that it's possible to get extra 6 more agressive settings if you press the razor together and twist it past that stop notch. Suppose you can do the same thing with the real Futur aswell.

Hello Paul. My only experience with Treet is that I picked up some of their carbon steel blades to use in my vintage razors. To me, that blade is smooth but not especially sharp if compared to a Feather, Polsilver, or Silver Blue. I will have to try the Treet Plainum. Have a good week.

Funny you should post this video now, as Im looking to pick up a Futur later this week. How is it? My favorite razor thus far is the Muhle R41 and I tend to set most adjustable razors to 7 or more. How does it compare to those? Have you ever heard of any issues with the top cap or the cap retaining spring breaking?

I love the Futur, never had any issues with my top caps etc....I have heard other people say about problems over the years.....but not many....compared to the R41, the Futur to me feels more aggressive, as it is adjustable too so that helps the aggression...all the best....Paul.

Hi Just waiting on my first de shaver to arrive. I Went for one of these clones on ebay. A question from a newbie. Why does the number you use go down with the passes? I think I understand 6 on the first because you need the space for the rubble and lather to pass through. But would you not get a closer shave using 6 for all passes? Or does the more aggressive setting only help when there are more whiskers to cut. Is there a down side / upside to using six on all passes or not? Hope you enjoy the razor when it arrives Martin, these razors are aggressive on all settings, it gets more aggressive the higher the number as you may know, but using 6 (most aggressive) setting will give a great shave, but is too aggressive on the skin for most people to use in all three passes....and you can end up with nicks and cuts....so starting on say setting 6 is ok for the first pass, then reduce it on the next pass....have a play about with it, all the best..Paul.
