Many thanks for the video Paul - very informative. After almost 40 years of wet shaving, I purchased my first safety razor late last year and yesterday took receipt of my fourth! Wet shaving is no longer a chore and more a labour of love. My missus thinks I’ve lost it but it keeps me out of trouble. Keep up the good work 👍🏼

Great classic shave Paul. Those are the ones I enjoy the most to be honest. Graham aka flashboredom was kind enough to send me a couple of Boots sticks and I like them. They might not be the best in slickness and lathering performance but I like using it for its scent and for what they are, ordinary working man shave soap. Very coloured and delicate flower display indeed. Beautiful We can't thank you enough for keeping this 'public service' entertaining the community in these challenging times. All the best, keep safe and healthy - and well fed - in the Humphreys household.

Hi Paul- Great shave and shave stick comparison; thank you! Nice job with the side-by-side shave. I haven’t tried the Heritage razor with a Feather blade yet, but will; I usually use a Nacet, but a Feather would definitely up the game a bit! Lovely flowers from Mrs H; thank you! Sending best wishes to you both- please be safe and be well! See you on Sunday for the weekend shave; all the best!

Good afternoon Paul! Mrs. H's floral display is cheering me up on a gloomy, rain-filled, morning! Self-isolation is the order from on-high and I am practicing my social distancing skills. All the supermarkets and stores have been cleaned out of toilet rolls and sanitizing products, plus canned foods. Thank you for bringing some entertainment in these trying times. I am so thrilled about the 1970's Boots shave sticks. Let's get into this! The older Boots stick ought to a tallow product and those tend to yellow with age. I see this quite a bit with my older Williams and Colgate pucks. The scent might be a tallow soap smell. I am going to predict that the vintage Boots will shine in slickness and the post-shave feel due to the use of animal fat. SOTD: EJ 3ONE6 loaded with a Gillette 7 O'Clock Yellow (Sharp Edge) (3rd use). Fine American Blend shave soap lathered with a That Darn Rob 24mm BOSS. Finished with Thayer's AF SF skin toner and PAA CaD aftershave. BBS results!!! Paul, your shave setup yielded a fine result. I liked the half face shave...you can clearly see how effective the razor, blade, and soap perform. Please be safe at work! Take care.

SOTD: Proraso White (with some remnants of Stirling Unscented in there); RazoRock Keyhole 22mm Synthetic; Gillette $1.95 (Fatboy), 1960; PAA Atomic Age Bay Rum; Stirling Unscented Balm. I *almost* picked up the Heritage this morning but decided to continue with the Fatboy! Weather here in Oklahoma is getting weird but a bit normal for this time of year for us -- rained for a couple of days, high today and tomorrow will be in the mid 70's (F) with a chance of a thunderstorms and possible tornadoes tonight. But Friday, the high is only 48 (F) and the low is 28 (F) and a chance for snow!!! Nice shave, Paul. I wish we could get stuff like that at our local stores here. Have a good week!

That was interesting! Shaving half your face, while no soap at all on the other half, really shows how well a razor works. I've seen people shave half the face with one razor and the other half with another razor, but the whole face was covered with soap. I've also seen people use one soap on one side and another soap on the other, still all covered. Never saw lather and shave one side at a time. It really showed how well the lather and razor worked. Good demonstration👍

You know something Paul, now that I'm watching this video for my second time, I find myself a wee bit frustrated that usually the older products work better than their modern day counterparts. Smh. What a shame everything has to be either cheapened these days, or priced well beyond what most folks can afford to pay for real quality. True quality & value products are rare. That's why I collect vintage Gillette razors and use mostly Williams, Arko and Palmolive for my shave soaps. All are testaments to lasting quality and value.

I had a shave earlier with a vintage Gillette "New" short open comb and a Feather blade second use. The soap was Dragon's Blood by CBL premium shave soap. A very soft soap that has a fantastic scent and slickness. Some witch hazel, Aqua Velva Sport aftershave, and some Nivea Sensitive Balm.

Nice shave Paul💈💈 I use "old" stuff every now and then, amazing how well it works after 40-50 years. The scent must have deteriorated with that stick, too bad😢 The Heritage w/feather certainly got close🤔, that styptic has seen plenty of use. Good way to compare the soap, presentation was spot on😊 Beautiful color from Mrs H even if you added to the mix😉 SOTD: Proraso Red, WCS Infinity synth brush, DE89/Kai blade, Thayer's Organic, Myrsol Plastic and Nivea balm....Sweet. Great video and comments again👍 Enjoy!

I like the Boots shave stick but not the packaging - it falls out of the base of the holder and you get soapy hands. What I did was soften it in the microwave for a few seconds and pushed it into an empty Nivea body shaving stick holder. Now it's easy to use like a lipstick holder and no slimy hands! Today's shave was with Brimble and Hawkins shaving cream. Nice scent but rubbish slickness. Rockwell 6c and a Nacet blade followed by the full Blue Stratos experience - aftershave, deodorant and EDT. Keep well!

Titanium dioxide gives the newer version its white colour Paul, so it might be worth checking the ingredients on the old one. It might have been a magnolia colour originally. They still do the soap, it's made by a little cottage firm for Boots. They did stop it for about 2 weeks, but the customers kicked off, so they brought it back.

A slick soap is imperative, smell? as long as it doesn't smell bad, better no smell at all. Interesting how some older soaps perform better than their newer brothers. I think I have only used the heritage once.....time to re try.

Hi Paul enjoyed the shave I bought a Boots save stick for the container but I have used it and it is OK. Not keen on the sent much prefer Parmolive and IMO I also thought it was slicker.
