Complete newbie to creating low content books for KDP. Have watched and enjoyed many types of videos on self publishing and havent had the confidence to just blooming start and try for myself as I realise now I get analysts paralysis trying to learn it all instead of just starting. Reason why I am writing this message is to tell you that you are a superb teacher, give incredible content and create excellent concise videos. I actually need to watch your complete beginner videos first but loved seeing how you created this cover using those fab vintage pics. As I say, I know nothing so I will look at your other videos and have just subscribed. I'm sure I will see from your beginner tutorials but wanted to understand if I have to start up/pay monthly for an Amazon sellers account or KDP account in order to sell on those platforms. No, you don’t need to pay anything for a KDP account and you can get started with just free tools. Basically it doesn’t cost you anything to get started. You just need to start! 😊

Hello Paul, after about 5 month of thinking of adding KDP to my list of income, I at last got the confidence to start. So yesterday I followed you're instructions to the T. Every time I try to view the book cover design, KDP'S got a pop up box that says my screen is to small, it needs 1200 x 600 pix, I work from my laptop, do you have any suggestions please. You make it look so easy.

You would have to change the resolution of your screen by the sounds of it. You would need to Google your model of computer and altering screen resolution.

Yes, that’s what I would do but I don’t think I’d customise it to be vintage. I’d just keep it standard but the vintage angle might be something to try.

Great tips as always, thank you! Published my first book and now I'm a bit panicking... Is there any way you can change front cover picture ONLY on the amazon marketplace where people go to see and buy your book? I only see uploading full cover design option for printing... For some reason my cover picture on amazon seems blurry, pixelated and pale (pale because they print in CMYK, but for web colors I want RGB photo, and also I want to change the photo quality which should better because I can zoom in my uploaded PDF file 400% in and it's very clear... but on Amazon it suddenly looks just bad... ).

They use the image of your book cover. So the only way to change it is to change and upload a new book cover.

What type of file are you uploading to KDP? It needs to be a pdf.

Great videos! But I’m a little confused with the book cover. Why did you use the template? At the end the barcode and other things don’t show on the cover?

The template is used so that you don't place text on the red lines where the spine folds or the cover is cut. Also so that you don't place your logo over the barcode and you make sure the cover is fully over the lines so you don't get a white line around it.

No, they don't suddenly own the copyright to that image as far as I'm aware. They may do to an overall design conscept that incorporates that image but not to that image isteslf.

The business structure is something you should discuss with an accountant. You get paid 2 months after. Example - sales you make in June, you will receive payment at the end of August.
