when he starts playing the opening riff of "castles made of sand", it almost brought tears to my eyes. and then when stops and says, "it was 32 fuckin years ago, i can't remember it," that humbleness makes me fall just a little more in love. he is questionably the sexiest thing to happen to the art of guitar playing. the chili fans miss you terribly, john. please come back.

it was Hendrix himself who said that Zappa is a better guitarplayer then him.... The thing is that zappa mainly was a composer and he did not focus on his guitarplaying, it was just a part of what he was doing...

Pt 2 to Fransisco: As far as influence goes, Clapton is one of the most influential guitar players to ever live. Without him, we probably wouldn't know half of those great blues guys. The Les Paul/Marshall combo was popularized by Clapton from the Beano album (1965). Hendrix only went to England on the condition he could MEET Clapton. The original Les Paul went out of production in the 1960's, but was brought back becuz everyone wanted one. Why? Becuz EC was using it with the Bluesbreakers.

wow dude that was a long reply.. but true.. i admired clapton a lot and he is a huge influence.. but Jimi just totally changed rock.. if u hear BSSM thats a lot of Hendrix/Slovak mix.. now John does changed a lot of musical styles.. but ur right man.. i never meant to put Clapton down.. in my personal opinion Hendrix is better than Clapton..
@iskandariskandarov14858 жыл бұрын
i've been learning the guitar for a year and i still can't strum properly with a pick. someone pls tell me it's hard and takes years to strum like john does
@jarrettthomas48658 жыл бұрын
stop focusing so much on the strum...listen with your ears more and what it should sound like...then you will get the strumming down
@iskandariskandarov14858 жыл бұрын
i can strum pretty well with my index and thumb but I've been struggling with plectrums for a while now. i just can't ignore the advantages of plectrum to give up on it
@TheMRMACHONACHO8 жыл бұрын
I've been playing for years, In the last 8 months I really starting getting into funk and more rhythm playing. Getting a precise strum full of attack is something which doesn't come overnight. Practice, Practice, Practice my friend
@unknownsection509ipc26 жыл бұрын
Practice practice practice, remind yourself that John has this way about him when it comes to strumming and really hammering down on those chords so when you do strum make it a solid one when needed, but as noticed in some songs he kinda picks around in the same chord for a second... you’ll get there
@chippchipp15 жыл бұрын
I had this exact problem, and the way I fixed it is by watching myself play in the mirror. You'll notice any unnatural movements that you wouldn't normally notice in your strumming hand, and it'll allow you to fix the issue.

@tubejohnny200612 жыл бұрын
Sounds like maybe a sound guy or employee of the club. Since he wasn't shouting over the crowd it probably wasn't a fan. And since John talks about playing over Ani Defranco right after, maybe he was telling him she's about to go on and asking how many more songs he has or something. Just a guess.
@Hektor8816 жыл бұрын
okandah: jimi and Jimmy were both influenced by Clapton, so there is vicarious influence there. Remember, everyone is influenced by whatever they hear. Influence is not a one way street. Every modern guitarist of rock or blues has been influenced by Clapton heavily, since he had such an effect on the way rock and blues guitar was played. John may not have copied EC's riffs and such, but he belongs to a genre of music that owes a lot to Clapton.

a "pawn" is considered a powerless person, (example in chess), and the pope obviously is a much higher figure. So he means that that higher power is irrelevant when everything around you (your sea) is pawns.. understad? pretty crazy stuff John talks...

Pt 3: So don't go putting Clapton down when it comes to influence. Influence is not an opinion, and I'm sorry if you disagree with the scale of EC's influence, you are WRONG. Did you know that Frusciante's solo in "Savior" was an emulation of Clapton? Listen to it without the echo, it sounds a lot like him, and Frusc. even said so. Hint: Your not a musicologist if you don't know what your talking about.
