Paul, Chris and Daryl, love your channel and continue to learn so much. I have reallocated around 2 years ago after watching your channel to include 6% small value and 10% large value. Thank you so much for all you do! And love all the data your share!

What are some examples of large cap value ? I always thought that was the s and p 500
@sarahsunsetpark2 ай бұрын
@ the S&P 500 index fund is a blend of growth and value. An example of a large value fund is the Fidelity fund FLCOX

We know that small cap value will be a bumpy ride. Fortunately in recent times, the bumps have been upward. Roughly 25-30% of my and my kids' retirement portfolios are in small cap value, and I have you and your colleagues, Mr. Merriman, to thank for it. edit:specifically AVUV

After watching one of your many outstanding podcasts a few months ago I went out did did some additional research and purchased AVuv for 15% of my Roth and 25% of my Grandson‘s four fund portfolio. We traded out VBR in his portfolio.

I'm sold on the small cap value, but would like to know why you employ small cap blend into your ultimate buy and hold. Paul says when talking about VTI that the small cap growth is considered a poor investment- enough to cancel small cap value's benefits. Why not put more into small cap growth and less or none in small cap blend/growth? thanks for all you do.
@MrigankJ252 ай бұрын
Right. I think it’s to dampen the impact when value underperforms for a long time to make it easier behaviourally. But if we neglect that, risk vs return profile favours small cap value only.
@machoheadgames8854Ай бұрын
AVUV has a combined 37% in small cap blend and growth. That seems like plenty IMO, no reason to add an additional small cap blend fund.

s and p and small cap value and DON'T rebalance? How about Paul's advice to annually rebalance? And is there an equivalent of AVUS for international stocks? Thanks for all I've learned from you all!
@xaldath42652 ай бұрын
I haven't done a deep dive to be sure, but it appears AVNM is the international equivalent of AVUS. As they share in the video, AVDE focuses on developed markets, while AVNM includes emerging.
@hkpo202 ай бұрын
@@xaldath4265 right- but I'm looking for the weighting. I.E. the typical VOO's and SPY's weight more towards large caps than AVUS-which gives a little bit more weighting to small caps. I'm wondering if there is is an equivalent fund for the international market- just a little bit more weight on the small caps. Thanks a lot!

@hkpo20 I'm not sure how I didn't answer your question, but Avantis publicly lists their ETFs. I suggest looking at them.

did you mention all three funds you might use to diversify emerging markets? I've used your AVEM and AVES- how about the third- small cap value emerging markets..?
@piecetrain97672 ай бұрын
I have the same question. I recently put a small position in the Avantis emerging markets small cap equity AVEE. I think there is more risk with not just political and company performance but probably accounting accuracy. Read the prospectus and I don’t know that I have seen risk disclosures so long.

I bought VBR 5 years ago, I read AVUV had a better 5 year return . I bought AVUV. But so far this year VBR outperformed as of 11-14. I think small caps could drop further the recent inflation report but it might be a buying oportunity.

Small cap value is among the best performing asset class when there's high inflation. Small cap growth is among the worst.

Small cap as a whole maybe, small cap value did very well in the 70s during high inflation.

73.9% of AVUV's 748 holdings also in DFSV ; 55.1% of DFSV's 996 holdings also in AVUV ; 533 Number of overlapping holdings per Fund Overlap .
@machoheadgames88542 ай бұрын
Less overlap than I would've guessed. Owning both wouldn't be a bad idea, at least for high-conviction SCV investors.
