I’m a gardener, I’ve had a little firemaple stove with me for 2years. Use it everyday what ever the weather. Never let me down. Works perfectly for me in all of the elements.👍

I modified my old pot stand for the jet boil ..to fit quickly… on the msr windburner …. I actually preferred …tiny van camping …. Weather has no effect … and sleeping is perfect winter and summer ….i used base camp mats…and the Everest Sleeping Bag .. as a blanket … always warm … and a hot water bottle in Sub zero … conditions …. [ Peugeot Partner ..and makeshift rear awning ..using a rope bag black diamond ground sheet … and bungees…

One of the challenges we face in the States are nocturnal visits from hungry animals. Cooking or. keeping food and utensils in our tents is not a good idea. Bear bags or a bear canister are a must! I need to do more wild camping when I get back to the UK!

That steak looks bang on, Paul. I use those mushrooms from Morrisons when I'm out a lot. Absolutely brilliant. I had them with a salmon fillet, new potatoes, dill and burnt butter.

Guys and Gals, Paul just reminded me of a bad experience camping, as 2, 16 year old's in '68 camping at the Langdale's, national Trust campsite one winter eve, my friend and I decided to replace our butane canister inside our woods tent. Oops whosh went the tent and singed our hair hysterically. we spent the next two nights hiking to Ambleside tying to find shelter where we could. there were several Hostels on the way and were sadly full . So Pls think ahead..IT WAS COLD.

I've had a Fire Maple Mars for a few months and think it's brilliant (so good, I sold my Minimo). The way it all packs together complete with gas canister is very well thought out. I've added volume markings every 100ml to the supplied bowl but apart from that, perfect!

I've just tested an Ali Express knock off Trangia copy, complete with wind shield and simmer ring for £7.44. It worked perfectly but does that make me a bad person? Seriously, I'm on an extremely tight budget and Hillebergs, Jetboils etc etc are way beyond my means.

Nice set up , I have the fire maple x2 in green had it for over 3 years now and I’ve cooked all sorts on it with a boil time of about 2 minutes 20 for a litre and paid £45 new for it. Everyone likes their own but to me I’d say it’s a jetboil killer

Chef Jean Pierre advised in a KZbin video that mushrooms are mostly water and that getting rid of some of that water will make your mushrooms taste stronger , less diluted . So dry cook the mushrooms at a lowish temperature and watch the steam rise off them before adding a tad of oil for your fried steak , maybe add some onions first , or leak cut to match stick sized bits . The mushrooms will then absorb any juices from the meat and veg . Yummy ! I like to add extra mushrooms more or less at the end of making any curry to soak up the tasty oils floating above the curry , or stew .

I don’t use filet steak as the lack of fat means lack of flavour. Use ribeye, from your butcher not supermarket crap, cook it first and the fat from the ribeye can be used to cook the mushrooms in whilst the steak is resting - makes tastier mushrooms plus don’t have to carry oil 👍

Good to see you. Glad you are making some transition for your health. Small things add up big in the overall picture. Check your blood pressure meds for concerns for mixing with alcohol. Some are a no no. Unexpected pressure drop, walking, driving etc. There will be a time when you can taste every grain of salt. I haven't used it for many years. Red meat will be another. It reduces kidney function and raises cholesterol. Plus heavily contributes to colon cancer. Life is good when one is young without worries or concerns. Good reviews on the products. Sometimes it hard to improve on the standards we use. There are so many items made mainly from china. The Soto units seem to be much better thought out, from Japan. I want to do a Optimus Polaris all fuel stove pretty soon. Very pricey. I've used an Optimus SVEA for over 40 years. Like a Saturn Five rocket taking off. The knife, a Jacklore., not familiar. It is beautiful. I'm a knife person. Looked at the pan a few times of late. Not bad at all. However the latest is the ceramic coated ones. That one comes with a plate set too in a kit. I like the dispersed flame of the stove. Seems safer. I carry my emergency blanket, sleeping bag and pillow all in one bag. I've always got all three. If I switch bags I still have another exact pillow to take without removing my "go" sleeping bag and items. Be more prepared. Nothing like sleeping on a rock for a pillow. One needs to figure out what the essentials of camping that are required every trip and strive to have those readily available. It is a marginal sport. Really good vid. Beautiful place when the skies cleared. Next time Happy Holidays, good health.

I was interested in the mars radiant earlier when it was released. There weren't almost any videos about it back then. Didn't want to buy it before some reviews. Then i had a chance to buy the reactor used for the same money as a new mars radiant so i went with it. Theres no chance for using a pan though.

Lovely day in the outdoors again. The Unna looks like a true winner, really spacious tent and untying the inner a bit offers plenty of virtual vestibule indeed. (It's really the only tent creating 'cognitive dissonance' regarding my Soulo RL). Very decent cooking&water boiling system, especially for the mentioned price. Congrats on changing your dietary habits. I've found that harder to do than the trails I've hiked.

Well done Paul, I’ve just scrolled through all the comments and can’t see anyone mentioning your boots! Of all the outdoor kit I’ve ever bought those boots come up trumps as my favourite. Actually kept dry feet on a wet Cape Wrath Trail with those boots (thanks to fitforadventure) I trusted her opinion and I really hope you’re a convert as I certainly am. I've never heard of Fire Maple but maybe I'll have to check it out. It's interesting to see different companies take similar concepts and out their own spin on it. I also love eBay and other resale sites for outdoor gear, it's saved me so much money buying that way, and you can find some really great deals. I purchased my Columbia Sportswear puffy jacket I used to layer when I lived in Alaska on eBay for $40 (US) and it worked well for me. I will always encourage others to buy resale when they can!

Got to agree with you on the mushrooms. We have a bit of woodland over the back wall and there's a fair variety of mushrooms which I have looked up, and most are edible. However, there's enough similar looking one which aren't that I'd not risk it. When you're checking if your stove/burner has cooled down enough to touch, use the back of your hand. If it IS too hot, and you're touching it palm down, your hand will clench and possibly grip the thing that's too hot. Cheers

Nice stove, maybe I'll buy one, but for now I'm sticking to my Chinese imitation JetBoil, works a treat. Never a fan of cooking in a pan inside a tent because of the fat and cooking moisture can wreak havoc on the outer tent, eventually leaking when raining.

Seems you did also bad in putting tomato stuff first, instead lots of water and then ricy looking stuff. Then later the can. But anyways, this one is mainly a water boiling pot only. With tuna or sardines it could have worked.) Oops above comments must have belonged to someone else's video, forget them. Nice stove system it seemed to me. And sounded also relatively silent.
