More class and courage than I will ever have in 10 lifetimes. His son played football and I reached out to him many years ago. He replied to me very graciously. I was a wideout playing full contact NCAA football the day this happened. I almost quit.

Have anyone heard Jack say that he was sorry before Darryl or he passed away
@joenorris8220 Жыл бұрын
I don't believe so. Stingley passed away before Tatum too.

He publicly said that he was sorry for what happened to Darryl, but at the same he always emphatically stated that he would NEVER apologize for how he played the sport of football.

Jack Tatum didnt care. He didn't have no remorse for what he did. Thats what he like to do.

I cannot belive this hit didn't have any kind of impact on Jack. I mean i don't belive he was wishing for anybody to end up in a wheelchair for the rest of their life.

Theirs literally an interview of Jack Tatum saying for a year after finding out he was paralyzed it bothered him he had to learn how to not let it bother him and continue to play

Jack had plenty of remorse and was never the same player after this tragedy. He tried to reach out in the immediate aftermath and was understandably rebuked by Stingley's family as emotions were pretty raw. Jack was extremely sorry for the result of the play but never apologized how he played the game, nor should he have. What I never understood is why more ire wasn't leveled at Steve Grogan for the location of the pass that put Stingley in harms way to begin with. Daryl Stingley is a true hero on an off the field. I wish he and Jack could have reconciled
@mikewhite62883 ай бұрын
@ChadRewski if he had remorse why didn't he go to the hospital to see him after the incident, or call or visit with him afterwards. He never did neither. Jack didn't care.

@@ChadRewskihe absolutely should have apologized. he paralyzed a guy for life being careless on the field.

Hit him with a forearm. Totally unnecessary in a preseason game. Even if it wasn't against the rules then, it was still dirty, in my opinion.

@@joenorris8220 He was wrong. Just watch the video and you can see Tatum apply his shoulder to make he hit. There would be no way a forearm would have that much impact to do the damage that was done.

@@lwmsonforearm to the head/neck at full speed sounds like a clothesline and that would definitely damage the neck and it don't take much.

That man was full of rage, hated himself, a whole different person, would put people in wheelchairs for the rest of their life, one of the world's most dangerous people at that time, never apologized and spoke to Stingley after what he did to him, and I don't think a martial arts person wouldn't take him down.😂

It would have been nice if Steve Grogan would have look the safety off and not stare down stingley; more importantly, a lower pass would have helped.

100% piece of human garbage and to the guys below defending him, give me a break. He NEVER personally spoke so Darryl. Tatum was a soulless coward.
