You can use an adapter, but it's better to use a Hi-Res DAC with any IEMs if you want them to be at their full potential.

"Best" would be a matter of preference, but my favorite ones in this price range are the KZ ZSN ProX, these Tangzu Wan'ers, Blon BL03, and the FiiO JD1. If you're into EQing your IEMs, the most dynamic ones might be the JD1 from this lot, but the most transparent for equipment is the Tangzu. I've had the most fun with my music with the KZ ZSN ProX.

I can't really say anything about the Chu2 since I haven't reviewed it just yet, but I know I've always really liked the Tangzu Wan'er. I did review the Chu first gen and found it to be a little too bright for my taste.

The mic should work. You don't necessarily need an external dac amp, but it will improve the experience.

Hey paul, planning to buy these. Compared your review of the regular black version, found both of them quite similar, the reason was to be sure to not miss any differences if they have. I am aware that this has only changed in the looks. I still need a reconfirmation from you about the sound, do they differ in any particular area? Also the black version now comes with a mic? Which one should I go with considering the over all package considering the wire quality(you mentioned that the black one's wire do no sit on the ear properly, and in this review you mentioned the wire has some rubber finish which is not smooth and may cause some disturbance when the wire moves on the clothes while wearing) and the presence of mic

I didn't have the original set with me to do any back to back testing but both seem pretty similar to me by memory. Yes this new one has a microphone and a pretty good sounding one at that. As far as I know the only differences are in the cosmetics and nothing has been altered mechanically. This does have a grippy cable so can rub against your shirt and carry that sound over to your ears, but it's a cable you can always swap out for another one if this really is bothersome.

Spec wise, they shouldn't sound different even when it comes to their volume because they've got the same resistance and components. But this one with a separate wire to the mic could be causing a little more resistance, possibly. So either you've got super sensitive ears to detect this, or there's something up with your cable. Do you have a set to compare these with?

Hi Paul, long back when I was bugging you about some neckbands and tws you suggested getting one of these IEMs, but at that time I thought the price was prohibitive but now, I feel like taking the plunge and since this will be my first, I am really wanting to buy this wan'er SG. But in many places in the comments and in your other reviews you talk a lot about transparency or the lack of it, so my question is, if my primary source is just Spotify from my old Xiaomi phone, will these turn out rather unimpressive compared to my neck bands. I have 2 realmes and one oppo enco2, I like the oppo more. The Spotify songs on the realmes are very very bland. I listen to a lot of 80s, 90s pop and pink Floyd and some heavy metal at times. So please tell me if is it worth buying any iem if my source is Spotify or other old mpeg files and if so will the SG suit me and if not which other stuff which will forgive the compressed formats. My best wired experience so far has been JBL c100, and now these neckbands. Sorry about the long question but you are the guru in this subject 😎

I'd say try the KZ ZSN ProX. They're not as transparent, so they are forgiving with older recordings and compression. If or when you decide to dive deeper into the hobby, you can always pick up a good dongle DAC amp and better IEMs as well. But since you lean more towards how your oppo is tuned, I'd say you'll prefer more detail, so when you want to, Apple Music is a great way to get access to Hi-Res audio easily. I use it for a lot of my testing, and it works well.

I will buy the wan'er SG mostly as it is not as transparent and is a bit more rounded across frequencies from what I've gathered. Thanks for the reply though. I have to take the plunge eventually. These Bluetooth things while adding convenience have really eroded the quality of music over a period of time.

The Tangzu is more transparent than something like the KZ ZSN ProX. I can tell when a track has compression with it which is impressive for a set of IEMs in the price range it exists. If you haven't been exposed to Hi-Res audio, I don't think it'll be a problem for you. Try it and see if you like it or not. Post that, you always have the option of picking up a good dongle dac amp and an Apple Music subscription.

I'd say the FiiO JD1 should suit your taste. I do like the KZ ZSN ProX a lot, but KZ is known to have a lot of build issues. I do also quite like the Tangzu Wan'er, but it's not as kick happy in the bass as the FiiO. Feel free to give my review a look if you haven't already.

I have yet to review the gate. I prefer the ZSN ProX for heavier genres of music. They are a lot of fun to listen to. I'd pair this with more intricate music. Classical, jazz, blues etc. It handles itself very well with these. I'd goto the ZSN ProX for a little more of a kick in the bass.

I prefer IEMs over anything wireless for the simple reason that they detail more naturally. The bass from them won't be bloated like they are on tws earphones. It'll be a tighter presentation. If you're getting into the IEM world, you may not want to go back to wireless stuff.

I have both, yet I prefer Air 2 pro. The vocals are very melodic, the bass is better n the comfort too.. tangzu has thinner soundstage, it has clear audio but it hurt my ears after some time... Maybe cuz I'm sensitive to high frequencies or it's just the fit of it..

I've only ever done some A-B testing between the KZ ZSN ProX and the Pro2 very briefly at a Headphone Connect event and found that I prefer the ProX compared to the Pro2. The Wan'er is a differently tuned set of IEMs. But I'd say the Wan'er is a little more enthusiastic sounding than the Pro2, from what I can remember of the Pro2. It might be worthwhile connecting with the guys at headphonezone to know for sure since they have immediate access to these products to check and let you know which would suit you based on your taste.

For the price, I find these to be good. The other IEMs here tend to have aggressive tweaks in the highs and upper mids to give the illusion of better detail recovery but only end up causing ear fatigue over longer listening sessions. Then again, each person has their own experiences. But yea, I quite like this set, also because of how transparent it is. It tends to be even more detailed when I connect it to my desk set up. Most IEMs in this price range aren't so transparent with equipment.

I haven't tested the Chu2 just yet, so I wouldn't want to give you any wrong information about it. But I've found myself prefer the Tangzu more for more acoustic music than anything else. The Fiio JD1 would be better suited for pop music and movies. Feel free to give my review on it a look if you'd like to.

If you mean wireless stuff, I don't think you'll find one that handles detail as well as IEMs do in that price range. But two sets I feel come close to how IEMs sound are the Lypertek Pureplay Z3 and the Yamaha TW-E3B. I've got a comparison between them. Both great sets on a sound front.

I find IEMs to be much richer in detail compared to TWS earphones. There are very few TWS earphones that come close to IEMs in terms of truness and detail. I quite like how the Tangzu Wan'er, FiiO JD1, and KZ ZSN ProX perform. The JD1 and ProX might be better suited to the genre of music you listen to. Keep in mind that IEMs don't give you a bloated bass like TWS earphones do. It'll be tighter and better structured instead.

I'm not too sure if these come with a USB C variant but usually they USB C variants sound similar but 3.5mm variants can change slightly in tonality with different DAC/Amps.

It's a matter of preference and many other factors. For one, the JBL can only support up to 990kbps, so if you have a high-resolution source that is playing at 2-5mbps, these IEMs can handle that quite easily, the JBL can't. This means the IEMs will certainly carry more information to you than the JBL ever can. If you don't listen to a Hi-Res source, the JBL can be more fun to listen to because it's tuned to he fun sounding and not analytical. Plus, these IEMs are relatively transparent so won't sound great with compressed audio.

I plug into the PS4 remote. It's got a female 3.5mm port as you'd know. The hardware for audio in it isn't great, so don't expect a very rounded sound when plugging into the remote.

It would be an interesting comparison. I've heard the Pro 2 briefly at a Headphone Connect event and did some A-B testing with the ProX and found that I prefer the ProX over the Pro2. But I'd have to do some A-B testing to know for certain how different it would he with these Tangzu IEMs.

I found the ZEX to be a little too bright for my taste. I prefer the ZSN ProX. The tangzu is great for music but is more on the warmer side of presentation so won't highlight certain things while gaming. Consider giving my review on the FiiO JD1 a look. It's a good set for gaming and music and has that highlight for hearing elements in games.

If you need them for monitors more, a flatter response is always better, in that case, the Pro2 over the ProX. But I do really like the Wan'er. It's not shrill in the upper mids and highs. It's a much truer sounding IEM than what I've heard from KZ and it details well without a high and upper mid accentuation that a few manufacturers are doing. But honestly, mostly everything in this price range is great for the price, everything's got It's own flavour.

Whether these are better than your realme TWS or not is something you'll have to sit and test to decide for yourself. I find IEMs to be superior in clarity for certain, bass wise, they will not be big and bloated like wireless earphones. The lower frequencies will be tighter and better defined instead. I really like these Tangzu's. The others I like are the KZ ZSN ProX, I think you might appreciate it for its bass and detail, and then the FiiO JD1 is also a good performer. It's heavy in the bass and has good sparkle in the highs too. Feel free to give my reviews on these a look if you'd like to.

Hi @Paul I am debating between Wanér, Zero2 and BL03 in the 2k range... and Z300 and EW200 on the 3-4k range. Library is largely old rock and country (analogue music/sound). What will you recommend. I am leaning towards BL03

I haven't tested the Zero2 and Z300 sadly, and as much as I love the EW200, I'd say it doesn't have enough kick for the music you listen to. The Wan'er is a great set to consider, and so is the Blon BL03. The only issue I've heard with the Blon is that the cable gives way quickly, but you can always pick up a better one. The FiiO JD1 might also be a good option to consider actually. Good heft in the lows for old rock music. Tangzu vs FiiO review coming out on Monday in case you want to wait for it.
