Hand/ arm/finger position stuff alone is worth years of trial and error😂

I want to address you as Paul, but my respect and appreciation for you as a result of your skill and your generous sharing of your talents, not just in calisthenics, but also teaching, compel me to address you as Mr. Twyman. Thank you for the clarity of your teaching. I think I have progressed in my journey towards the handstand more in the last two or three months of watching your videos, than I did the previous six months. Again, thank you!

thank you! The concept of catching the kick up in the middle instead of aiming for the vertical alignment was a game changer for me. I struggled for so long because I wanted to kick up directly to the sweet spot, and I didn't even know that my window towards under balance was already so wide... game changer.

Pure gold! Thank you very much! I’ve been working on my handstand for 2 years now, but as soon as I leave the safety of the wall, I feel like being on my hands for the very first time and I collapse immediately. Never thought about the hands being my feet now. 😂 this is a game changer! Thanks!

Due to repeated efforts from the fingers to correct the overbalance my wrist and whole hand fatigue after 3-4 proper attempts to try to balance the handstand near wall. I want to practice more but loose the mind-hand connection after 10 minutes of practice
@nevioth3 ай бұрын
I have the same problem. I assume it is because I have not conditioned the arms and fingers enough yet for time so I continue to practice static holds
@PaulTwyman3 ай бұрын
Work on mobility that helps to make the body one segment like passive hanging. Build a strong chest to wall handstand for 45 seconds plus. These will help to make the pulls from the wall more efficient and will need less intensity

Your videos are great! I've been practicing HS for a long long time, but only now I feel that I'm training towards a purpose and not just doing kicking to the wall and thinking "ok I will eventually get there.." Thank you 3:00 "Now I highly recommend that you turn you're hat around" LOL

Hey! This really helped me a LOT and i mean a lot on handstand but did not fully understand movement when cstching underbalance, i try to pull my hands backwards to pull shoulders forward but it does not help, do i need to do it faster to avoid getting more underbalance?

Hi i saw many videos. Tbh i really missed this video this video is the master piece. But i noticed yiur calf muscles are so small compared to your upoer body. I woukd recommend you to work on your calf muscles too 😊

I have trained the underbalance drill for some time and can do it for reps and 10sec time, but only near the wall )) when i try it freestanding, everything seems to happen so fast and usually I don’t have time to understand what to do to keep balance. Also, its harder to measure the ability to press away from the wall in overbalance. If your body is not so straight, then it’s much harder to press away. I should work on it more, i guess. I spent most of my training time chest to wall in an attempt to keep a more straight line Thanks for the video!!
@PaulTwyman3 ай бұрын
Yes keep working both wall drills and it will come. Also add other arm balances, pike push ups etc and don’t rush the straightening when attempting freestanding holds

I was trying to conquer a fear of the under balance drill. And pulled off the wall and was about to flip over. I immediately dropped to my elbow and flipped to the side. I feel if I waited half a second longer, I could have cartwheeled out of it. That’s the goal.
@Emily_onFashion3 ай бұрын
Heck yes! Cartwheel or a round-off. I seem to fall out in roundoffs a lot. Which is way better than smashing out uncontrolled like I used to! ❤❤❤

How many times per week should you practice the Kick-up to handstand?
@jasonharte-reynders54753 ай бұрын
Are there progression drills to help with restrictions or weakness with pushing up through the shoulders to stack more tall and straighten out the handstand? Or do the drills you demonstrate correct and strengthen that as you go?

Can you do a video with advice to people (I guess mostly women) with flexible backs? I am having a hard time to keep the form and not crush to a bridge, and most videos I see don’t address this issue
@curiosityshop19 күн бұрын
Not an expert but it sounds like you need to 1) work on your core/ab strength, and 2) start pushing on your fingers before you overbalance and work on that finger/forearm strength. You probably don't quite have the strength yet to recover your overbalance so work on those muscle groups.
@Chris-Hnvj3 ай бұрын
My underbalance control is poor, I think that's harder than overbalance control, keep practicing. Fighting!💪🏻
@PaulTwyman3 ай бұрын
Yes that’s very common. Give it time and keep practicing the drills, the under balance will transform your handstand
@jomni3 ай бұрын
Stuck in 5:40 drill. I've been doing this for years but I go straight back down to ground whenever I lift my feet off the wall. Not balancing in the middle. Gripping too much? 8:40 I can catch in the plance but then tip over when I straighten. Over push and not keeping the shape. Or I just under push and legs immediately back to wall. T_T
@PaulTwyman3 ай бұрын
Don’t rush the straightening, allow the body to be a little relaxed or keep a slight banana. Think more up movement and less sideways. Hope that helps

How can we control our hips if falling under or over balance?
@perotal3 ай бұрын
You don't. It all happens at the shoulders
@PaulTwyman3 ай бұрын
Focus needs to be more on the base (shoulders and arms) and try not to let the hips/legs take over. Try to position the hips always slightly behind the the base, practicing body line drills can help
