permies.com Jacqueline Freeman from Friendly Haven Rise Farm in Battleground, Washington shows me a bird bath this is now a bee watering station.
In my podcasts I talk about visiting many farms. I have seen some horrible things done to bees. And I have seem some very nice things done with bees. And my experience with Jacqueline is the only time I have witnessed reverence for the bees.
This bee waterer is designed to make sure the bees don't fall into the water. If bees float on water, they have a hard time taking off. This waterer gives bees the ability to get all the water they want whild keeping their feet on something firm.
Jacqueline talks about how she uses just clean well water. Sometimes she will add a little seaweed to help the bees get some micronutrients.
In this video, Jacqueline gets one bee to drink off of her finger.
Jacqueline practices permaculture and biodynamic farming.

Can she have an instructional video on how to make a bee bath? I adore this! I don't cut my grass until the bees have left my clover and they would love this I think!!

twice now i have hair dryered bees after them almost drowning in buckets of water in the garden they were pooped from trying to get out and sprawled out on my hand when i put in the water to get them out and dodnt seem to be drying so i turned the hairdryer on and put my hand with bumbly on at the edge of the warm air and they soon came round they loved it , shaking their bum in the air and turning to dry the other side it was brilliant --

Now that's a great way to make use of a bird bath. It's obvious she really loves her bees. Congrats on the 20K too.

I love how the bees don't even mind her, they just chillen, cause they know she's a friendly. If we just treated mother nature alone, they would treat us just the same.

There is such a thing as mosquito fish, that will eat the mosquito larvae. I'm sure if you rearrange things just a little, add a little more water, it would be perfect for them. I used them in my tiny pond.Check it out. ( :

Ahh yes... "nice clean well water"... same thought we had until testing showed pesticides from the 1950s contaminating it! :( My, my, what we've done to ourselves, huh? Nice video, good message. Thanks!

Thats fantastic im always worried about stepping on my bees when there all in the woodchips and mud drinking, they ignore the 6 pond edges i made probably because it lacked moss. I'm going to build one of these in a month or so, thanks paul.

This is great, but would be a hot mess trying this in Florida.....that stuff would mold and get rank in a matter of hours ! But then again, they can drink the dew right of the grass leaves in the mornings 🐝

What kind of moss can be used for this? Idk if all are safe, most, some, few?? I've already set up one. And have a few more coming up. I'm checking with the kids in my neighborhood, see if they want to make one as well.

I've been gardening for years and have seen millions of bees come and go and I have yet to see a be drown in a puddle of water. We humans sure know how to mess up the natural world but then we also tend to think that we know how to better improve on nature.
