Thank you D Lovely. As a child I was taught to play piano music which contained the tune and the accompaniment. It's a relatively recent thing to pull back the piano to the role of accompaniment to support singing avoiding playing any melody. The electric piano is an even better example of this because it produces a deep warm sound which leaves plenty of space for vocals. However, my singing isn't great so I just do what I have always done which is to lay the tune and accompaniment down in one arrangement. I'm glad it makes you feel good.

There's normally more stuff in the original than I can reproduce - but the original is put together in layers so it's not always possible, in which case I look for key rhythms and melodies. I pay more attention to it sounding balanced with continuous interest throughout than to matching the original.
