All other modellers need to take note: Scratch-building is the truest test of all the skills required, and this is a masterclass. So impressed, it must have taken months and the result is truly a wonder to behold.

Just found this, and I'm totally floored, Harry you are an outstanding craftsman. I just started the DeAgostini kit from Model Space and found your vid while researching this kit. I just cannot believe you created this model from scratch, with every detail of the version of TB2 that we see taking off from it's launch ramp, the one with the castellated black ring round the rear engines. Simply stunning!

Thanks Gary, i own several TB2 models, one being the Takara 1/144 scale which is pretty much the same as the DeAgostini, and always wanted a 3 foot model, hence this model

I am now utterly jealous of the detail, workmanship and the realism of this outstanding model. The best I can do is having just signed up for the DeAgostini TB2 kitset build series. If I can end up with my finished model even half as good as yours I will be ecstatic. You have also planted a seed in my mind that I might (probably with a lot of luck and bad language) be able to replicate the pod and give myself more than the two pods that come with the 'kitset'. At least I have an advantage of a template to work off rather than working from scratch like you had to. You have created a priceless collectible!! Outstanding!
@Thunderbirds-models6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Robin, I bought the Takara 1/144th scale model several years ago which is almost identical to the DeAgostini, other than a different colour, from the same mold I reckon, great detail and is what I used as reference for some of this build, took me 2 years on and off, but was pleased with the end result, the DeAgostini is a nice model, good luck with the build mate

Astounding build! Thank you so much. I have 1 question. What is the color green you used? The green color seems quite bright at 10:25, but darker in later pictures. Are multiple shades used or is it just 1 color? Do you think your color matches the color Montana Gold Lawn Green? (I am intending to use this color for my own build but now I am uncertain)
@Thunderbirds-models11 ай бұрын
Thanks, the green colour for Thunderbird 2 has and will be forever debated, I had the same dilemma as your facing now, many use Rover applejack which is very yellow, when dirtied down looks ok, but not as I remember it, personally I think you should paint it the colour you think you remember it or want it to look on your shelf, the truth is over the series and latterly the films the team used many greens, as models were damaged, repainted and so on, also the lighting makes a huge difference, for instance the weathering on the studio models would of been very heavy as the studio lighting bleached it out, at home is going to be totally different. As for mine many think the colour I used is an acceptable compromise, and the colour that looks that similar to what is shown in the TB2 hanger scene's, this is what Mike Trim said on the pantones used, I used Humbrol matt grass green 80 spray, weathered with a sealing coat of autotek matt clear which is more a satin. Mike trim memory of TB2 colours TB2 Green = Pantone 363 U. Yellow fuselage band = 602 U. Engine Red =485 U. Yellow bands on tail unit = 107 U. These colours are as close as I could get to my memory of those used on the original model and prior to all the dirt that accumulated over time. Having worked on it it so many times, plus cleaning and respraying sections, that memory is still fairly vivid. The tail bands were an applied tape which was a much brighter and more acid colour than the fuselage band that was a spray on by Master Models. The red circles surrounding the VTO exhausts on the underside were, I think, applied by us and were more of a poppy red (probably Trimite paint). The yellow band around them was, in all probability, the same tape as the tail bands.
@Thunderbirds-models11 ай бұрын
Sorry forgot to mention, at 10.25 that is the grass green straight out the spray can in the garden day light, once weathered and clear coated looks different.
