Lesson learned. No short cuts in fixing vintage stuff. ^^

Dave, I absolutely LOVE that you kept all three tries to repair that launcher in the video. You could've easily simply shown the final repair but by leaving in the first few attempts, it demonstrates how patience and re-thinking a project can lead to a successful result. You are an inspiration! Such a delight watching you repair these toys with such genuine care and patience. Thanks for everything you do.

Thanks Paul. Most people assume I get things right first time, and that is often not the case, especially one something I have never worked on before. So I thought I would show the whole process, warts and all.

I so miss the old anderson shows, captain scarlet, stingray, thunderbirds, and terra hawks. They were before my time in the 60;'s but still enjoyed the reruns. Terahawks was from when i was a child, that time it was more hand puppets vs string. TY Dave, this was awesome.

@samuzamu3 жыл бұрын
To add extra strength to the missile launcher tabs, you could maybe bridge the glue joint with a thin piece of styrene on either side, in the gaps between the tabs and the other side pieces of the launcher "neck". Would be pretty fiddly but might add another strength axis. Weakening the spring was a good call though.

I really enjoy your videos. Have you ever thought of using a small screw as a latch. Drill a hole screw in the screw maybe shave one side with a file and the remaining screw head would stick out and you wouldn't have to worry about it not being strong enough.

Thunderbirds is absolutely huge in Japan, to this very day. It was more recently a prime market for Thunderbirds are Go! Merchandise (the rather excellent modern rebooted series). It's also why there's an entire anime series that had enough similarity to be dubbed and retitled in English as Thunderbirds 2086.

I absolutely love the Popy/Bandai toys. Most of there toys are of high quality and you can never have too many die-cast toys especially if they’re Gatchaman in my opinion. It’s always so much fun watching you repair vintage toys and bringing them back to their former glory. Im constantly amazed by how you can find an individual Lego piece that looks and fits so perfectly for repairing a broken bit on a pre-existing toy. I always wonder if Lego knows that they make the best pieces as an alternative to whatever original part is broken on a random toy. Anyways, this was a great video and I look forward to seeing the next one! Cheers!

It's nice to see you do some work on Popy toys. I bet, the anime show Captain Future wasn't as popular in the UK as it was in Japan, Germany, France and Italy? It ran from 1978 to 1980 and it still has a fan boys. I'd love to see you restore the Captain's spaceships Comet and Cosmoliner and the action figures of the show from Popy.

Just to add a bit of clarity for something that often confuses toy collectors. Popy is and always was Bandai. It was Bandai’s diecast toy division in the 70’s. Somewhere around 1980’ish Bandai simply rebranded everything to the parent name “Bandai” as it was felt it was getting international brand recognition. Bandai didn’t buy out or absorb Popy. Popy was always Bandai.
