How many controls in Lightburn do you pass over every day because you're not sure about what they are?
@mp68143 жыл бұрын
Very few, only those that I may think are for features my laser does not have (and I may be wrong in my assumptions). Other than that, I try to test them all. On another note, can you - or someone out there - help me find answers to questions pertaining to the different types of control systems in lasers and their ability to work with Lightburn? I am eyeing an interesting CO2 machine that the seller says cannot be directly controlled by Lightburn. The seller says Lighburn generates a file that the laser control board picks up. I am not familiar with that, my small LED laser is controlled directly by Lightburn. Can the software operate (control) a CO2 laser directly, let's say one with a Ruida board. My question: 1) Does the machine support Lightburn? Answer: 1. It does not support Lightburn. Our item, Controller name: Ruida controller Engraving software: RDWorksV8 Setup8.01.10 What does that mean? I sense this is how Ruida actually works with Lighburn, but this may be an expensive assumption to make. Any help will be much appreciated!

@@mp6814 C02 lasers with a Ruida controllers ARE compatible with Lightburn. Unlike the diode laser that sends Gcode directly to the laser, the DSP version of LB sends a file. Then you load the file in the controller and start the job. Ruida uses the UDP network protocol, so you can't send the file over WiFi unless you get a Lightburn Bridge, but you still can use a regular network cable. If you want to be absolutely sure, go to the Lightburn forums and post the make and model of the controller to ask the staff there. forum.lightburnsoftware.com/

@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy Thanks, Rich, it seems that there either was a misunderstanding between the seller's representative and me, or the rep does not know what I was asking abut. But then, I did not want to make a costly mistake and be forced to look for new electronics. You have helped a lot, many thanks. I will use to forum to iron out any additional questions I have. Thanks again, great, helpful and educational channel. Marek

@@mp6814 My pleasure, and good luck! I'm sure any new C02 with a Ruida will work with Lightburn. Thunder OMTech and Boss are now even packaging their lasers with Lightburn.

This is the genius of Jason of Lightburn - those little features like Burn Selected Items. I can't say how often I use it, especially on my plotter when making postcards. Fantastic, Jason - and many thanks, LA Guy.
@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy3 жыл бұрын
I think the real genius is that Jason incorporates other people's code into the program and isn't afraid to give credit where due! Lightburn is dominating the market after only three years. That's incredible! The Chinese, while great at machine tech, have a long way to go to catch up with American software, if ever....
@mp68143 жыл бұрын
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy Yes, you are correct, he talked about it in an interview with Gil Poznanski (Ozzie guy). We are talking about the same thing I think, namely the selection of features he incorporates in his product, whether his own or not. SOme things are not worth spending time re-inventing. I have to say, it is exceptionally rare for me to accept a computer program wholly, I agree with every option in it and still discover new ones. The domination of the market is a direct result of how good this program is.

Rich, I use 'cut select graphics' all the time. Say you have something you are engraving and then going to cut it out. The engraving came out great but you notice it didn't cut through all the way so you want to make another couple of passes on the cut-out. There are two ways you can do it, but only one good way if you are cutting out multiple objects at the same time and one didn't cut all the way through and that is to select only the cut that didn't cut through. The other way is to turn off all the other layers and run the job again but then you wind up burning around already cut through objects and taking more time. As always your videos are much appreciated. I always refer people who are getting into these lasers to your videos because there is no equal. (Except for when Oz puts one out)

I'm new to LightBurn and lasers, How do you pause the current laser project (coasters) that is in progress and then restart the coasters where the laser left off after making the license plate?
@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy3 жыл бұрын
I stopped in between burns. I didn't actually pause the current job. I had 8 of each coaster and I stopped at 3, designed the license plate, cut & engraved it, and then resumed the coaster job. It's all in the video Jesse.
@OldCurmudgeon3DP3 жыл бұрын
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy that was what threw me initially. Your title says pause and it implied mid-burn of an item. What you did was stop it between pieces then pick up where you left off w/ fresh blanks where the 3 finished pieces were?
@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy3 жыл бұрын
@@OldCurmudgeon3DP I finished the burn in progress, and then designed the plate and returned to the coasters, so yes.
