I'm trying to follow two ligands were exchanged, both of them came back one of them was inserted between cobalt alkene bond other was attached to cobalt, from where did the third and the last one come from. In books the second last step is referred as the insertion of Carbon monoxide, what is the source of Carbon monoxide? Some says it's Co2(CO)8 but it is being used as catalyst. But catalyst remain un used? It's only purpose to accelerate reaction how it can add something to the reaction? Please elaborate
