Pavel is the best. You'll hear names like Crosby and Ovie on the lips of fans, but you ask players and it's Datsyuk's name that comes up. There are very talented technical players out there, who have fantastic hands, and can protect the puck and play possession, but Pav's is a master from an alien world. He saw the ice different, he played different. His imagination and creativity were otherworldly. Great players seize on the opportunity...Pavel created his own. He's created and scored on opportunities he had no business having. When he was at his best, he could go out on the ice, put the team on his back, and create something from nothing...and even more so in a clutch. Everyone will always praise his stick handling and his skating, but to me the real magic in Pavel Datsyuk was that mysterious X ability that just let him see on the ice what no one else could see, and to try (and succeed) in what no one else has tried.

Pavel is one of the best ever, and a ridiculous stick handler. These are just a few of a highlight filled career. His last name is pronounced Dat-sook. His nicknames are Pav, Pasha and Magic Man. You can ask Siri who a The Magic Man is, and she will, at times, respond with a description of Pavel.

Datsyuk was a actual artist on skates, one of my fav players alltime. Sometimes while watching his games it felt like there were 9 guys on ice playing ice hockey and 1 Pavel Datsyuk doing what he damn well pleases.

1:20 - In case you don't know, in hockey each team is allowed to have a maximum of 5 players and 1 goalie on the ice at any 1 time. Which means he dangled his way through the entire Nashville team all by himself and then deked the goalie to tie a 2-3 game with only 6 minutes left in regulation time.

Fun fact... Pavel is regarded as one of the best if not the best defensive forwards ever in hockey. He is mad talented and would have scored a lot more but he was always defense first. Truly a player that any team wanted.

Subscribed because of your take. The NBA and NHL have plenty in common in terms of strategy, offensively and defensively. If you look at guys like Datsyuk, Connor McDavid, Sidney Crosby, Sergei Federov, Pavel Bure, and many more, the skill sets align and the plays can be similar.

when your put on the ice at like starting at 4yrs old, it becomes very natural to be able to skate still tough to make the right sharp corners and beat the other player (if you dont know players get their blades sharpened all the time)

Are you even kidding right now? Pavel is absolutely top 5 best ever. Not only was he the master of the poke check he also could singlehandedly embarrass the entire other team. Just by his skill. What alot of people don't know is that he also 2 Lady Bing Trophies for impeccable conduct on the ice, but he also has 2 or 3 Masterson Trophies for Amazing sportsmanship. He's an incredible player. Too bad is gone. He retired last year. They honestly don't make athletes the way they used to.
