"Jedi Rocks" was so awful it almost ruined the whole movie for me.
@animefan776 жыл бұрын
Why this works and why Jedi Rocks doesn’t is simple. The latter tries to an over the top parody of lounge singing set to a catchy, upbeat tone with that contrasts with the tone of the movie and the situation that the heroes are currently in. This song is low-key with a disco tone that fits with the time the movie was made. It’s also very surreal and there’s an undertone that’s very unnerving with a sense of dread that something could go wrong at any moment. It actually fits Jabba’s place well- fun until it decides to kill you at the slightest whim.
@SniffyPoo5 жыл бұрын
exactly. the tone of Jedi Rocks is completely wrong.
@shh5325 жыл бұрын
It's also that Lapti Nek is a legitimately good song that you just wanna listen to, but also genuinely alien - it conjures an idea of a vast galaxy where it could have come from anywhere. It's a part of that world, not ours, and suggests so much more that we just can't see. The worldbuilding of the OT and formation of SW is unlike anything else, deliberate or accidental...

Word. You couldn't create a better song for this scene if you tried. And they tried. I love that it mirrors the seedy underbelly melting pot feel of discos at the time. All manner of sentient beings just getting down and dirty, loving life. Big pimpn' Jabba, the original OG.
