Surface tension is the force which acts on the periphery in order to minimize the total surface area and droplet of liquid (that is sphere) having less surface area as compared to other geometries in math. Pressure which acts on cross sectional area to burst the droplet.

@Shreya Yadav that's why we cut the droplet in two pieces and then we can consider that surface area is acting on that circle hence pi * D^2 /4
