Yes I mix vive wand + index controller, it's the most comfortable for my shooting technique. It is not at all a requirement, you can be good with any controllers, and I do not recommend going out and purchasing a vive wand just because I have one. Try to figure out a technique that works for you!

Thank you so much for making these tutorial videos. I’ve recently gotten into VR and have found myself getting destroyed constantly in multiplayer shooters to the point it has been incredibly demoralising. Often meeting people like yourself who dome me across the map instantly whereas I take several seconds just to try and align my targets, players like yourself seem inhuman in VR especially and I would keep rage quitting, ha. Whilst I disagree with a VR shooter having CS-like recoil patterns (I think it defeats the purpose of a 1:1 VR input, making it more like m&k), your skill and accuracy are unquestionable. At first, I completely disagreed with you about VStock. I found it confusing and annoying. I continued to play the game without it and enjoyed myself. But, as a few days passed and I got better at using scopes, I found the wiggling of the scope frustrating. I decided to try VStock again and was SHOCKED that I was no longer confused by the VStock. In fact, I can't even tell that it's on. All that happens is my aim is more stable. It's amazing how as I got better at the game, the VStock just made more sense, even though I was getting better at the game without it.

If you're having trouble figuring out which eye is dominant, this technique worked for me (after the 1 finger and triangle methods gave inconclusive results). 1. Choose a target in the distance, such as a picture hanging on a wall or vase on a table. 2. Point with both hands. Then put your two index fingers together, side by side. Now point at the target using both hands and both index fingers together. 3. Take turns closing each eye while fixating on the target. Your dominant eye is the one in which the fingers don't move and still point at the target. Eye dominance and handedness go together, generally. 90% of people are right-handed, but 65% of people are right-eye dominant. If your dominance and handedness don't match, this is a slight disability. Yesterday I hoped into the range as my first time playing , and even with just the pistol I was so confused and shocked at how bad my sim was, sometimes the sights on the barrel didn’t even line up with the rear sights when I aimed, essentially I was shooting downwards rather than straight, took like an hour to get used to most guns and being able to ain’t properly with both eyes open.

Wow, training my brain to keep both my eyes open is so hard. it's so impulsive when I pull a weapon up. And in VR (at least on quest 2) it's much blurrier than this. It's good to use Sidequest to help with the quality. I still get motion sickness in a lot of these games though, it sucks. Thanks for the tips!

I found that if you have a relatively decent PC, you can get Pavlov for steam, and it's is much clearer, not that blurry, but at distances it is, but after a few mins of playing escape from Pavlov, you will not even be bothered by the haze that makes it a but blurry to see. Look up some shooting stances and apply them to the game.

When you play other VR games with virtual stock, and then come back to Pavlov, it can mess with your head so much. Two-handing in Into the Radius is so different, that when i came back, I tried aiming with a M4, and found myself staring at the _side._ Like, completely diagonally upwards.

the game is registered to be right eye dominant. theres a setting to switch it. he made a good point in the eye dominance. but if you do it IRL, you'll get your eye dominance (point to an object far away and switch closing eyes. the one that didnt change is your dominant eye.) it goes more in depth. but id definitely change the setting if youre left eye dominant like myself.

I'm a right handed shooter, but I use my left eye, so the rifle is canted, but still lines up, I learned this in my service, and that way, not only can you see your bolt, but you have a more stable platfrom to shoot standing with.

Excellent tutorial! One thing this doesn't cover is getting good at going from running to aiming accurately. I try to imagine the gun is in my hand and keep my form while my hands are down at 45° to run, then flick it back up in the same form as I round a corner, but I've seen you do this faster in game than I could ever could. Any insights? Or is this a topic for another tutorial?

I have index controllers too, but I have issues with the grip. I have to REALLY hold it or I’ll just drop the weapon. I also have issues with reloading because I’ll try to let go but it keeps holding on to the gun for a second. It’s super frustrating and makes it hard to do things quickly.

I switched my index to be a "squeeze to toggle" which prevents that, but does cause me to sometimes drop my weapon if I squeeze to hard on flicks.

You can also change the index bindings to a custom preset with a lower grip sensitivity, so you don't have to grip as hard to hold your gun. Look up how to change the index bindings, there's lots of presets to fix that.

Oh it's so hard for me to use VS. I've been playing Pavlov for years now, have more than 1k hours, never used it. People have said that I really need to use it to play competitively, but I also don't feel the need! I score pretty great even on competitive matches. So for now will probably continue to ignore it. On Population:One playtests, I've seen a better option to it than on Pavlov, where you can actually choose how much you want the back hand to influence the aim or not, like, you can set it to just a small amount of influence. That would be pretty great if added to Pavlov.

Move the sight or scope as far toward the muzzle as possible. Had a commander who had one eye, and asked how in the hell does he shoot, showed me his unique looking X95 and was shocked to see the eotech so far forward.

pavlov is strange, you can be competing on the highest level while using no aiming strats at all, I use ak primarily but what I do is is bring the front iron sight above the rear only slightly and aim for center mass, typically it either takes most of their health or the recoil gives you a headshot. idk, I'm one of the goofy left handers so idk if my strats ate different because of that.

Thats actually pretty effective tbh, its not going to be quite as good as aiming directly for head with irons and getting 1 taps but its still much better than straight hipfiring it.

hello, can you please help me? I bought this for the psvr2. Its fun! But i cant reload ma wepaon most of the time, because it seems that i have no ammo. I look to my left side on the body and i have no ammo. Why? Do i have to buy some? Its so anoying especialy if i shoot against bots in training. Do you never have some tracking issues when holding the controller so close to each other? Mostly the one behind will jitter a little bit when only the bastestation in front of me can see it.

I have 3 base stations which helps a lot for this. If you can find good spots in your room to aim at where you get less tracking loss, you can use smooth turn to get around it. Otherwise, maybe try the t-rex technique and see if it does better for you.

Tbf sometimes recording software will record the left eye of someone's VR headset and not the right, and if most people's dominant eye is the right one it won't look like they're aiming down site on the video when they actually are

i don't have a physical vr gun stock but i turn on virtual stock but i stretch my left arm out like im using a pistol with me left hand and i place my right hand on my inner elbow and put light pressure and it really helps with aiming because your aiming with your left arm and using your other arm for pressure and it helps reduce shaking though im still probably gonna get a cheap gun stock in the future

I have same issue, tilt the rifle or weapon to about a 30 degree angle, you will see the sight picture in your left and in your right the field of view, I try to switch up eyes when medium to close and for long range I use my right.

I'm kinda proud that I've figured a lot of this stuff out by myself just by messing around on the shooting range for a couple of hours. I'm from Europe btw, so I've never shot a gun in real life. ;) Edit: I have a question: I did a couple of dominant eye tests and it seems to me that both of my eyes are more or less equal. It depends on which image I concentrate on. How do I know for sure which eye is my dominant one? When I use a scope or holo sight, I'm perfectly fine using my right eye with both eyes open, but with iron sights, it's really hard to concentrate on the "right" image. Do I just have to get used to it or could it be that my left eye is dominant? Edit: I have yet another question: Is there an efficient way to aim a pistol in combat? I find it quite hard to keep the sights aligned when I'm aiming at moving targets, so I just hold the pistol in front of me and focus on the target, so that I see "two" pistols, one with each eye, and then I aim by getting the target in between these "two" pistols. It works okay but it seems wrong.

1. Some people have less eye dominance than others, if both are good, then use the one that corresponds to your dominant hand. If you are right handed, use your right eye. 2. You want to ignore one of the two pistols, and line up the sights on the other pistol with your dominant eye. Same as with rifles. Your brain will eventually completely discard the second phantom pistol and it will be like it never existed.

Maybe you are slightly near sighted, or perhaps the IPD is set wrong on your headset, or you need to move the lenses closer or further. I do think that the VR lenses will amplify any vision issues you have.
