Small Update: Life Hack Number 6 (5:33): If you live in areas of the EU or an older home you might actually benefit from locking the headset to 50Hz instead of 60Hz. As 60Hz can sometimes clash with the lighting frequency of lights in your home 👀

I think you understand this setting wrong. It must be set to the frequency of you outlet. 60Hz is not better then 50Hz. Its just because the lights are flickering with that frequency and to filter the flicker out and make the tracking better you net to set it to the right setting. DONT just set it to 60Hz "because high numbers are good".

A couple tricks: put something down, like a shirt or a small rug to use as a proxy mat so you always know where you are. My favorite “hack” is just using the battery extension pack. If you charge the vr through the battery pack, it charges up with 200% battery with 100 from each pack. The battery pack replaces the flimsy strap that comes with it by making the design where the pack is on the back of the head and uses a dial to tighten the sides. It keeps it in place but you have to remember the top strap still needs to hold as much weight as possible. As someone who could never play without adjusting those flimsy straps, the battery pack is a must.

if you ever get controller wobble (Where the battery shakes in the controller; mostly a problem on oculus quest 1) you can use tinfoil to tighten the battery in place while still allowing it to conduct electricity still. When you open your connected devices, you will find your media in the area for media. You then can save it to your phone by pressing save. You don't need to go through facebook. Awesome tips on the vid, so THANK YOU!! Commenters, you were also very helpful! MY TIP: I discovered using my 2 yoga mats covers most of my place space. The texture is different than my carpet, so it's great to know my boundary limitations, without relying on Guardian. My toes find the edges. Also relieves me from worrying I will put wear on the carpet! I started with just one yoga mat, placed at the back of my play space because I am usually moving forward. That worked pretty great too, until I was able to find my 2nd mat. OTHER: I would like to see a tips video as it pertains to those of us stuck using free public WiFi (unlimited at my apt.). I suspect there is zero possibility of tying into my PC with my Quest 2 because of this ... no router, and who knows what level of WiFi access speed (I am grateful everything on my Q2 works so far though!).

I like guardian on. It allows me to comfortably navigate the virtual living space nearly wall to wall, without walking into my furniture, walls, or corners in the real life.

Okay, so number 4 ( 4:02 ) It was literally the best one by far, that I hadn't known (I figured out a lot by messing around with it). I have to put three fingers under the strap and my pinky over the strap. I do also have semi long fingers, so I didn't have any issues reaching buttons. It doesn't provide an "OMG" grip, but, it is a nice cheat until you get the actual grip replacements.

For #7, “turning off guardian” if you want to sit and watch a movie, in May 2021, the option to add your couch to your play space was just added. Use it to define the plane of your couch, and now you can sit down, and the quest will switch to couch mode, allowing you to watch while seated.

if anyone is like me and cant get the battery covers off, using a razorblade or boxcutter blade to just BARELY pry them apart will pop them off like a charm. Just don't be to aggresive with it you should barely have to wiggle the blade Great tips man the 60hz tracking will hopefully help and the double tap passthrough is a game changer (Feels slightly better and the double tap to passthrough is life changing)

For the strap hack, I found it insiteful. I just adjusted it for my hand by adding an elastic band at the top, looping it around the strap. Works perfectly.

Make sure the room you're playing in has as many different colors as possible to get the best tracking possible. 1 or 2 colors will make your tracking bad because it can't tell how much you actually turned, looked up, or looked down
