So what items do you typically repair?
Why do brakes last for such a short period of time?
Why do tires wear so quickly?
Any engine concerns?
Several engine options- Gas 3.6 VR6 and 4.2 V8, diesel 3L TDI, 4.2 TDI
and a 6L TDI with 500 PS (368 kW; 493 hp)@3750, 1,000 N·m (738 lb·ft)@1750-3250
Are there any maintenance services that you recommend?
This vehicle was developed with VW & Porsche and they have their own versions of this vehicle: the VW Toureg and Porsche Cayenne.
How does the Q7 stack up against these?

I have had my 2011 Q7 over 7 years. It has been a great SUV. I also have a BMW - the secret is to make sure you service them at 10k kilometres and they will serve you well. I also tow a 2 tonne boat with it ans of it does perfectly. I agree the tires go quicker than a sedan though handles extremely well. Ceramic breaks tend to last longer. Ours Audi is the 4,2 V8 TDI twin turbo - highly recommend it

I choose an Audi over the Benz; my research showed that the Audi reliability tends to be better than the Benz

I have two (non professional) suggestions for the brakes. 1. Switch to ceramic pads. The factory compound stops the car fast. But it doesn't last long and it creates a lot of dust. Switching the ceramic brakes will reduce the braking performance, but the pads will last longer. 2. Replace the brakes before the car tells you too. That way you don't need to replace the sensor. And maybe the rotor can be used a second time since there will be less scoring or uneven wear on the rotors since the are changed earlier. For the tires. I have two suggestions: 1. Dial in alignment and check condition of suspension components. 2. And if you an early model. Switch out the factory one-year good year tires for Pirelli. They will last more than one year. This car is tank so it will eat tires and brakes. But hopefully my suggestions will help somebody. :p

Thank you for posting. Of all the German makes I would buy an Audi over a BMW and Mercedes. They are generally reliable and fairly easy to maintain.

I agree! This is my 2nd Audi Q7 and I absolutely love them! Wouldn't buy any other Suv, the first one I had 3.6 drove excellent and now I have the 4.2 V8 drives excellent. Had minor things wrong nothing major! Very safe, reliable vehicles... !

Considering either the Q7 or the Benz GLS450. Issue is, I would like e diesel and can't seem to find them on either nowadays. Is this now a special order? Which would you suggest?

Are these cars more reliable and less expensive to keep compared to the Q7?

I'd say his experience is bang on. VAG vehicles have the worst reliability i have ever experienced. Every time I've owned German it's cost me big. Japanese all the way now.

Funny, No mentioning the timing chain problems ??????. He will only mention it after you've bought the Q7 and show up at his shop. By the way timing chain job is about 27 hours of work ( engine transmission out job ). Let's not forget the starter is also a engine out fix
@olegk455
@olegk455 3 жыл бұрын
Let’s be honest here, the timing chain on the newer TDI’s with two chains, is a non issue essentially. They do make some noises at very high mileage, when being started from cold but there is hardly any documented catastrophic failures history with them.

Breaks wear fast, tyres wear fast, engine oil leak, expensive to maintain, quick oil change, make sure you do lots of mileage or Diesel engine will give you lots of problem. Bottom line you drive it then wear and tear and if you don’t then engine problems. WTF

Actually a little confused on weather this guy miss spoke or doesn't know what he is talking about, 5:49 he said the touareg came with a W12 V8, that is not possible as a W12 is a 12 cylinder engine. maybe he was talking about the V10 TDI that it used to have... either way don't know if I really trust this review.
