With those nice parts, the final product should come out real nice. Well done on the part selection and this series as a whole. It's going to be great to watch and learn from. Thanks for all your efforts Dave and Trevor.

Great series, doing the same project currently, I have a lower budget than yours so I saved some cash by looking around on line, found the Magpul stock set in desert tan for 109 with free shipping, also used Wolff springs. If you have a little time and don't mind looking you can save some real money. Thanks for the tips and information.

This was cool to watch, just overpaid for a brand new 870 yesterday 😂. Looking forward to some of these upgrades once the wood finish bores me.

@Marcos Rivera do yourself a favor and sell it and buy an older 870 wingmaster or a pardner pump with the humpback receiver! New 870 is trash! I have a pardner pump a wingmaster from the 50's and a express the express shouldnt have even made it to the sales floor! Look them up trash!

Thanks for taking into account the sale of the parts. Selling my stock set & trigger group saved me $140. Also it was purchased as a display after hunting season with a $50 mail in rebate.

You said you bought the majority of parts from Brownells and it put the build in the $504-$534 range. If one is willing to take the time and search around for deals, you could probably get everything on the need list and several items off the nice to have list for the same price.
@Learningfirearms7 жыл бұрын
You probably could, deals are always around if you have the time to shop around.

It really just depends with some small city’s and county’s you have to provide you own equipment.

If you sign up with Remington....they will send you an email every time they have a sale. And many of their sales are near 40% off their regular prices. They are pretty good discounts and their regular prices are much lower than Brownells. Don't get me wrong...Brownells is a great resource...just not always too competitive in price. I found many items for my 870's for great prices....just by shopping around and signing up for 'new customer' discounts at places. 1 item I recommend....is a complete trigger system from the Marine Magnum. You just drop it in...and then all your parts are Zinc coated and higher quality like the Police version versus the economy Express model. Almost all the other Express parts are the same as the higher versions...just the outer coating can be different(bluing vs coating).

I love the series...however, for $500 you can purchase a brand new 870 express and have a few hundred left over for extras!
@Learningfirearms7 жыл бұрын
+Jordan Hardy there are cheaper new 870s but they won't be as nicely set up as this. You can't find a new 870 with ghost ring sights, Nordic tube and magpul furniture for $500. And then where would the fun be in that :-)
@Mgoblue24867 жыл бұрын
Oh I definitely agree with you, just pointing out you can get the base model 870 for around $299 and that gives you $150-$185 to play with! Need more series like this!

But you can use the Magpul furniture with a 28 inch ribbed barrel right? I mean I don’t see why not but idrk I’ve never had 870 before

yes you can use them with any length barrel.

Thinking doing a build up defense shotgun. Had to chuckle about single point sling. Let it " hang"....it swings when not held. What about those tubes used to fast reload in competion shoots. Two or three. Quick to use vs having to one by one from the attachment..

As old as that shotgun is it probably already has a machined extractor.

6 minutes in an already $534. Personally I'd buy a new gun for less than that, which would save $$ and have a new gun. On the other hand, if ya like building things such as this, $$ really isn't the point. The $$ is worth the time and experience of doing it. Gun projects can be fun, and the value is up to the owner. Fun videos!

FN SLP....If you are a LEO and value your life, buy quality and don't try to upgrade-yourself to quality from a lower base.
@Learningfirearms6 жыл бұрын
mwnciboo I agree the SLP is a nice shotgun but arguably the 870 is the most reliable pump shotgun on the market. Refurbishing an old reliable shotgun is still a viable option for those with limited budgets. The old 870 has been proven in putting a lot of bad guys down over the years. Again not taking away from buying something newer or better but for a lot of people that may not be an option
@mwnciboo6 жыл бұрын
Learning Firearms Whilst true (and to be fair my comparison of a 870 pump vs a Semi SLP is fundamentally unfair), you used alot of things in the refurb that cost outside the budget. Its fair enough if you have equipment to begin with, but to the average journeyman the cost of doing much of it in time and resource not just pure cost from the parts is a bit of a false economy. Not that comparing $1200 to a $250 shotgun makes sense but a 590 or top end 500 is what $400-500? I thought the premise here was a Patrolman's Shotgun? Anyway all that aside, great content subbed. I'd love to see a Super SBS /SB-Firearm build like a Sebu/shockwave with a 12" Hogue stock, kind of a small form for home defense.
@Learningfirearms6 жыл бұрын
mwnciboo I’d rather have an good old 870 over a 590/500 but that’s preference :-) The mossbergs are still a good shotgun no doubt and if one was buying new the value is by far with the 500/590 vs a new police 870. Thanks for the sub but I’m not uploading much new content here. Ive since been hired by Guns & Tactics Channel to make content over there. I’d appreciate if you sub’d over there to see our new stuff. You can see the pinned video on this channel for new info. Thanks for watching!! -Dave

Getting in and out of a patrol car? Are actual cops going home, re-building weapons and bringing them to work?
@Learningfirearms8 жыл бұрын
+Jesus H Christ, no actual cops usually aren't but we are a gunsmith shop and have refurbished several guns for various agencies. Some rural agencies don't have a lot of money and will only have the option of repurposing an old seized gun. It's sad but true. This particular one is for our camera guy and will be for home defense and personal collection.

some police officers have to purchase their equipment with their own money. it is very sad that in this day and time, the protectors of the people have to do that.
