They have to call in an expert. It's a must for professional pawners. A pawner buying an item without an expert is like a person buying a car without seeing it, without insurance and without paperwork. Pawning is one of the hardest ways to make money. So all you schmucks need to cut it out with the expert jokes and criticism. I'm pretty sure if you were having surgery you'd want an expert in every feild dealing with every aspect of your surgery and safety. Right?

Well I think what he means is they don't see a lot of Carebears brought into the store. Baseball cards, knives/swords, jewelry, the usual pawn shop fare, he might have a better idea ballpark what that's worth. But they always call in the officials to a) verify it's real and b) get their expert opinion on what they think someone might pay in the shop OR at an auction. Also I think Rick literally has built a blackbook of experts he knows will be more in his corner than the customer's, in fact I wouldn't be shocked at all if some of these experts low-ball it on purpose just so Rick can get it cheaper, he may even take a percentage if that sort of fraud really happens. lol. But yeah you don't see many carebears on the shelves, I think that's what his point was, but I also lol'd at the time because they literally call in experts for every item we've ever seen on the show.
