A woman obsessed with Care Bears ever since her third birthday now takes toys with her wherever she goes - after amassing a cuddly collection worth £4,000.
Jennifer Hawkins, 34, from Gloucester, fell in love with the 1980s cartoon bears when she received her first cuddly toy version on her third birthday.
The single administrator began collecting the bears from then on, but became addicted to the passion six years ago when she started splashing out on exclusive one-off finds, including a 25th anniversary Bedtime Bear, which she paid £140 for.
As well as Care Bear themed books, bedsheets, clothes, bags and even knickers, Jennifer has a tattoo of her favourite - Bedtime Bear - and takes a miniature version of him, called Beany, everywhere from the supermarket to the doctor’s surgery.

The root cause of all this meanness from people is firstly its a control thing, "you arent doing what i like and so im going to be nasty to punish you" and secondly they are mean because the collection is not based on appearance or sexual activity which are the two most revered things to human kind. If it was a collection of makeup or anything sexual based not a peep but as soon as anyone does anything innocent or different thats when the meanness starts. Its all about control. And also no matter what the collection is, happy content people feel no desire whatsoever to be mean so all meanness shows is how miserable and unhappy these people are.

I love that she brings Beanie places. Im in full support of people having a plush or piece of fabric around to keep yourself feeling safe while going out in the world. People should be able have able to have the tools to help ground themselves whenever they can. You only have one life, you have a right to feel safe. Beanie is super cute!

I’m obsessed with the care bears ever since I was little. I was a severely abused child and never really grew up, I’m very much a kid still, more infantile. I plan on havin a carebear collection when I move to Canada with my sister: my message for you is don’t ever stop being a kid, kids are the best and are pure inside! Keep it up I’m rooting for you! How they all have their own little unique colors and belly badges relating to their individual theme. I collect them also but nothing like your collection. I'm a man of 33 and I have maybe up to 30 Care Bears at a guess. I'd probably need to count them. Quite a small collection and most of mine are quite recent bears. Do you like the new Basic Fun Care Bears? I absolutely love them. They are what made me fall back in love with Care Bears! Something reminded me of them when I was a child.. one of my very first toys was a Care Bear Cousin.. the little elephant, which I still have but not in as good condition now! I have all the new releases from Basic Fun. I really love the new designs. I loved the latest Care Bear "Togetherness Bear". I think the new multi colour rainbow style was awesome! I think it's a good message also, that while we are all different to love and accept eachother.. there's no denying it's a complicated world out there, sometimes I think wouldn't it would be great if it was more like Carealot and we all took advice from the Care Bears! They really are like little guardian angels.. there's a Care Bear for every problem.. and they teach such good morals to kids and adults both. Look online for one who has been loved a bit too much to be a true “collectible” and the prices are usually not too bad. Don’t worry if they no longer have their lock of hair or if they’re a bit chewed, they will love you just the same for giving them a home 😊

I have actually been trying to collect care bears (the 1980's version) and I typically look for the cheaper ones. I guess if you are wanting a mint condition, then it will be more expensive. I typically look for them in good condition, smoke free homes, and as long as they don't look too wonky. I have never spent more than $20 on 1 bear alone. Though I'll say it takes patience to find exactly what you want.

Unfortunately a mishap came over my life and all my collectibles are gone and ruined and not even one I get to save. But one point in time we want to relive our childhood hobby and collection. This is totally harmless and there is no reason for people to be mean to her, it's just a hobby and if it brings her comfort then that's great. I have a small daughter that I watch Care Bears episodes with and I buy her Care Bear plushies and other toys and clothes with Care Bears printed on them, but I also enjoy the bears and get comfort and nostalgia from them. Collecting Care Bears related items is kind of a way of bonding for us.

I have no idea what happened to mine, but I was able to find my old keychain plushes at least. There’s a candy store chain in America (Dylan’s) that houses a lady’s private stuffed rabbit collection! It made an impression on me, because they were all sitting together the way your stuffed family is. Take care

I generally buy the newer things online, like the Funko Pops and the little squishy ones. Other ones I find on eBay, Etsy or Facebook groups. I’m sometimes lucky and find them in toy shops where I live, but mainly I get them online.
