I've bought original comic book art many times and that assessment was pretty spot on by the expert, even if he wasn't well versed in the genre.
@andrewm23995 жыл бұрын
Not really. It could very easily have been a competent artist doing a scam. He should have brought samples of the artist that the guy claimed it was then compared styles. Inking, cross hatching, etc. Also the artists work would be available to see online. The only thing he verified is that it is a page drawn in a comic style. It needs its authenticity to be verified. It might be a copied page or a composite forgery. Look he points at the blue pencil preliminary sketch. So what. That proves nothing. He was useless.

I can see why they called in a fine art expert instead of an actual comic book expert. This was more of an art work, than really a "comic", so would make sense to call in Brad, since that's what he specializes in.

Not even, Mark Bagley isn't an artist that commands a ton of money for his work. His spiderman work on the market is especially over saturated too. That page might have fetched 300 or so on e-bay. For 1500 you can get a double page splash page with multiple characters etc. by Bagley.

@Boxingbear3 жыл бұрын
Its called doubling your money. Sound business practice. Some businesses can settle for 40% , some businesses will pay you 1/3 of what they plan to sell it for. Most comic stores who buy collections will pay a third of whatever they can sell it for. It seems like a scam but when you consider how long they have to sit on some inventory well as other factors it isnt so bad.

The so called expert is not very bright. It could very easily be a knock off of the artist that the guy claimed it was. Should have called the comic guy. He would have brought sample comparisons and been able to tell from the inking techniques and actually might have been able to trace the comic if it was real. A passing wino would jave been more helpful than the art guy. They obviously fed him the info about the artist because you can tell he has no idea what he is saying.
