People who are saying why would you pay $150,000 for a 'Toy' are clearly stupid. This is a one of a kind, prototype model of a character in a multi billion dollar business sector (Star Wars). I could bet there is some billionaire star wars fans out there who would pay into the millions to buy something like this.
@AnyoneCanSee8 жыл бұрын
+Vault Dweller - I agree, and the value probably just went up from it being on T.V. and referred to as the "holy grail," of Star Wars memorabilia. If you are a billionaire $150K is nothing to them. Also, it is a one of a kind, so the person who bought it can show it off to friends, and no one can else can say they have one. Star Wars is so big for so long that it isn't going away, so it will hold its value. Also people spend millions on rare postage stamps, and they are just a tiny piece of paper, so a $150,000 for this seems cheap by comparison.

I thought the prototype was a loose figure? First time I've seen this Fett variation carded.

then when that billionaire die. Their heir will give the toy away to a charity or simply throw it in the garbage thinking it's not worth anything. That is why i never understood collecting. I collect 45 rpm records. I know very well they are not worth anything and when i die they will end up in the trash. I would rather spend money on experience now like traveling, owning my own buisness, pursue education.
@the_dover_king8 жыл бұрын
MrPetitsebastien Yeah but even that action figure would be worth nothing to a Billionaires child so if they threw it in the trash it wouldn't mean much to them.

It's all staged. A lot of the time it's for their mutual benefit even if no one ends up buying/selling anything. Guy comes in with rare expensive item and gets free advertisement and let's collectors know theres someone selling that item. The pawn shop in return gets to show off a rare unique item in an episode.

Kenner didn’t realize it; a kid swallowed a Battlestar Galactica laser torpedo, and died from choking, and that scared Kenner off of the feature

For anyone who loves toys, especially Star Wars Toys and EVEN this amazing gem (Rocket-Firing Boba Fett).... There is a fairly new series on Netflix called "The Toys That Made Us".... And episode 1 is ALL ABOUT Star Wars Toys! They even talk about this wonderful figure and also call it the "Holy Grail" of Star Wars Toys and Collectibles! I was just watching it recently and when they spoke of the Rocket-Firing Boba Fett, I got all excited and said "Hey! That was on Pawn Stars!" So, I thought it would pass the information along to anyone else interested in learning more about this toy, Star Wars toys, other toys, or people who love collecting things like this! LOL! I know I certainly do! :-) HAPPY COLLECTING!!

If this was a genuine chance to buy it and not just set up fro tv, I would've paid $150,000 in a heartbeat if I had that sort of money to invest with and didn't need to quickly turn it over for a quick profit. That toy will eventually fetch 1 million guaranteed. Easy.

A million in the far future seems iffy. You would have to be a 1979 kid (which I am) and at 45 years old now, that means only 40 more years of really maintaining a status of a holy grail. I am certain that if you didn't experience Star Wars movie in that time period you would never feel the connection to drop mega money on it. It be like a 2000 kid being super connected to the Lone Ranger or Dagwood, never going to happen.
