@@BinbrookPaintball Russia has had many different reigning monarchs in the history of Russia. It includes the titles Prince of 0 Moscow, Czar of All Rus' (Russia), and Emperor of All Russia. The list begins with the semi-legendary Rurik, Prince of Novgorod, sometime in the mid 9th century (c. 862) and ends with the Emperor of All Russia Nicholas II who abdicated in 1917, and was executed with his family in 1918. It's just a piece of history that the museums in Russia would love to have as part of their history despite who the sword was owned by. We have museums of our past in South Africa that people hate but it's there as part of our countries history

Yeah but it's not like a family heirloom. His grandfather bought it cause he thought it was cool and passed it down probably knowing his grandson wasn't a sword collector. Its like when my mother inherited a very expensive tea set from my great grandmother and we sold it cause we have bills to pay. No point in keeping stuff you don't have a use for and most grandparents know this.

Things like this sword need proper care and maintenance, not just sit in some basement where it will erode away and eventually forgotten. This is the only person I have seen on this show that when finding out their item has great historical value does the best thing in walking away to find the best auction house to sell his not only historically valuable, but massively monetarily valuable one as well. If he can find the right auction for this he will gain an incredible windfall for it. I would have an auction house in England do it since it would be far closer to European collectors, as well as Russian collectors too. But I am sure he will take his time to find the right one as he didn't seem to be in a rush to sell it, unlike most people seem to be when they walk into their shop.

3:09 In Arabic it says "from works of Assadallah". Giving it have the right damascus pattern and the right curve tells me it's genuine Assadallah work. The blade alone without the handle and the scrapped would worth 25,000 usd. It worth that much without considering that it belongs to a Russian prince which will of course increase the price. If he can proof that sword participate in an actual battle and the prince has died while holding the sword it will significantly increase the price. The seller have a lot of work do and he probably have to hire a well known expert to investigate more so he can certificate the sword. If he does it right it will exceed the 200,000 usd easily
